Ambien... or in a pinch: vicodin, codeine, or most other opiate derivatives will do... :p

I do know that your body gets less sensitive to melatonin after using it for a while... same with diphenhydramine HCl (benadryl, tylenol PM, Dramamine, etc... same active ingredient). I know that if I am all excited about something, nothing but the stronger stuff will work for me... but thats just me...

When you're dieting down especially with low carb diets the body begins to cannabalize muscle tissue which the body uses to synthesize glucose (gluconeogenesis). Most of the resulting amino acids EXCEPT phenylalanine (PA) are used. The remaining PA in ur blood has a stimulent efect which gives you that wired/tense feeling and often leads to insomnia (if you doubt this, try some PA supplements on an empty stomach).

When you have this problem at bedtime during a diet, try eating something, preferably some carbs (i know counter-productive for dieting) or even some protein (because PA competes with certain other aminos to cross the blood-brain barrier, and can only have the CNS stimulating effect if it successfully crosses the blood-brain barrier).

I think this probably has something to do with it... plus adrenline..

last night the sleepy time tea work I pass out... and I just woke up but I still feel like I could sleep the rest of the day... But its already noon and I have some stuff I have to do before I go to the gym...

if I have trouble tonight... I have some stronger stuff that WILL work heehee

thank you all

Could you post a link to the research proving that statement "especially with low carb diets". Ive heard that stated by many people against lowcarb diets and websites but for the life of me I cant find any validated research to that effect, all I found was research showing that of comparing most diets, lowfat, low protein...low carb spared the most lean body mass. I dont need an explanation of metabolism, just a link to the actual research demonstrating that. Thanks. Gluconeogenesis can be avoided by higher fat consumption and almost altogether avoided with a 90%fat composition 10% at 1000cal/day. Gluconeogenesis is primarily relevant to starvation and fasting.

I'll see if I can dig it up, that was 3 PC's ago !

p.s. re fats above, the longer the diet continues, the more the body shifts its preferred energy source for synthesizing brain glucose from amino's to ketones (from fatty acid oxidation). initially and tru about 4 or 5 weeks, its a combination of amino's and ketones with the ketones % contribution increasing daily.
