Why is the rest of the worlds opinion of the US negative?

Were Germans complicit in the government policies of Nazi Germany? Was Hitler the sole bearer of the moral atrocities that occured?

Yup.....I don't buy this idea that the citizen bears ultimate responsibility for allowing the government to do as it pleases. Considering that murder of the complaining German or Iraqi took place, it is just not realistic to expect the common citizenry to have this type of leadership and bravery.

I think that, historically speaking, about the only organization with the power to overthrow the government has been militias unless the government is already in the process of self destruction.

To specifically answer the question of ABL, I would attach responsibility to everyone with the rank/power of General on up. They were old and wise enough to know what was really going on.

FLAGRANT UNILATERALISM.

The current administration displays no interest in working with the international community. ABM treaty? Nah. Kyoto clean air act? Doesn't serve our interests. UN coalition for invasion? Nope, don't need that.

You get the idea.

Something you won´t find in the history books:

In the nations east of Nazi-Germany, mainly Tschechoslowakei (don´t know the English name), Germans were prosecuted and discriminated before WW2. Their possessions were taken and they were forced out of there. Killing a German without reason was legal, though i don´t know how often that happened.
My grand-father was among them and i believe him when he told me that story.
When Hitler proclaimed his "Heim ins Reich" (back into the empire), which was conquering the eastern nations , he had big support from these people.
Also, people were upset about the Treaty of Versaille, which gave Germany the sole responsibility for WW1 and about the reparations Germany had to pay.
People were cheering when Hitler declared that he just wasn´t paying anymore.

Hitler had huge support from the population, a fine example of what can happen when people are too patriotic.

Please tell us why we have to work with others who do not share our beliefs and values? Kyoto was not in our interest and would have hurt the US solely to promote flawed reasoning. The US does not REQUIRE UN approval to promote its self-interests. The UN has no power to govern US actions.

Simply because the European nations desire to part of a group, does not mean that all nations are obliged to act in kind. Why should US citizens be subject to rule that they have no control over?

You have exactly the kind of attitude that causes resentment of the US.

Please tell us why we have to work with others who do not share our beliefs and values?

Have you ever held a job?

Everywhere, in every place and every position, individuals are forced to put aside differences and work towards a common goal. You can't just say "f---'em, they disagree with me" and do your own thing. The US has been getting away with that because of our military and economic power. When (god forbid) we actually need something from France, or Germany, or China, or whoever, they're gonna remember how we don't take their advice, don't consider their position, and "promote [our] self-interests," and they'll say "Go F--- yourselves."

Have you? Last time I checked I have a job to perpetuate my personal interests, and when my personal interests are no longer being met, then I move on. It would be irrational for me to stay in a position where I received no benefit. What you are clueless about is that one can have rational self-interests that benefit others through a cascade effect, as opposed to your concept of obligations to others that I share no interests with.

Please tell us what IS the common goal?

Why should others in foreign countries, who do not even share the basic concept of individual rights, be able to guide my country's policies? The UN is a joke, a monstrosity of nation's and pseudo-nations, where the most ludicrous of ideas are accepted as sane. Those very nations you mentioned have told us to "fuck-off", and therefore we are handling matters ourselves. This coming from a body that passes resolutions that it does not see fit to uphold.
