well covergirl i believe it is a function of evolutionary biology. its not very romantic but reality usually isnt. in the scheme of men propagating the species there is no place for emotions. actually emotions might be counter productive in that a man could spread more of his seed without attachment to any particular love interest.
as far as "pair bonding" emotions are very important and quite necessary for long term monogamous relationships. the human psyche does not concern itself with anything outside of evolution, thats what "therapy" is for.
