I want to take this in a slightly different direction.
I want to make the case that getting rid of your homophobia is good for you.
Why? Because with the above argument, presumably you are or will be a parent.
And 1 in 10(?) children turn out to be gay.
And the highest rate of teen suicide is gay teens, especially those of homophobic right wing religous parents.
The teen finds feelings in their heart they can't tell their parents, and they commit suicide
rather than not live up to their parents standards.

Why would any parent want to do that to their child?

being a homophobe is wrong, in my opinion, because it IS a psychological imbalance. if you DETEST something that much then you need to dig around in your own brain and figure out what it is that is bringing about this intolerance.
