Why in the F*** is marijuana illegal and isn't about time we change that.

Even I could enjoy a toke to bring back the good ole days
if it were legalized...

Unfortunately, the munchies is something I don't need more of
right now..

All the religious right groups would be outraged.

Not me!

And God said, "See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth...to you...."
Genesis 1:29

I had to quit smoking cold turkey when I was laid off as I may have to take a pre-employment drug screen. The really sad thing about marijuana, compared to the other drugs, is that it is both the most benign and that it stays in your system the longest.

Coke will stay in your system and be detectable for 3-5 days, but marijuana (which we would all agree is less harmful) can stay in your system from 10-45 days. It just ain't fair.

I agree that if it was legalized nationwide, the tobacco industry would begin to expand again. Why go to the hastle of growing it when you can pop down to the store and pick up a pack of Marlboro Greens?

I think we will see it legalized, at least in some states, in our lifetime. Doesn't Nevada have some sort of bill coming up?

To BeefyBull, just because something is natural or has medicinal uses doesn't make it safe. Arsenic is natural, and botulism is both natural and used for medical purposes but that doesn't mean I want any of it.

Read post #26 again, its probably the safest rec drug, hands down and much safer than many products we consume

What is the political reason behind It? I would guess it's to keep the sheeple happy? All the religious right groups would be outraged. It's about money, isn't it always?

it is about money but not the way you think.

The largest lobbying expenses are not defense, not labor, not healthcare, but pharmaceuticals.

They finance much of the drug war and support people who conitnue to vote for it. if you are having a bad day/week/month/year/life, they want you on prozac/Zoloft whatever.

They don't want you smoking a fatass doob or doing a few lines off some hooker's hip, though both of those typically ease pain.

They want you on drugs...theirs.

Everything else is propaganda. religious groups have nothing to do with it...nor does political affiliation. Both sides take the pharma money.
