Why do some people take Internet seriously?

And it was like for a moment, O my brothers, some great bird had flown into the milkbar and I felt all the malenky little hairs on my plott standing endwise and the shivers crawling up like slow malenky lizards and then down again. Because I knew what she sang. It was a bit from the glorious Ninth, by Ludwig van.
real horrorshow

They re-released the un-cut original x-rated version of "A Clockwork Orange" in Great Britain in 2000. Might try to find me a copy. Was never shown in the US.

He was pretty scary in Rocky Horror, dressing up like Perkele.

What was that gay unicorn movie where Tom Cruise came out of the closet?

Oh yeah, Legend, I think.

Tim Curry was pretty scary as the devil in that.

Hey Samoth, what about 14C?

Carbon-14, being radioactive and thus unstable, actually decays to produce Nitrogen-14 via emission of an electron:

C(14) --> e- + N(14)

The problem you mentioned does exist, but I haven't looked into the extent of the problem.

The problem is thus: First, how do we measure tiny amounts of carbon atoms? Well, there's a number of ways, but for the purpose of this specific discussion, we'll stick with the relevant, that is, via mass spectrometry (MS). This is done experimentally by really cool accelerators, but not as cool as the particle accelerators that speed things up to the speed of light. And damn, I got just the resource for ya: our physics department's own PRIME Lab! http://www.physics.purdue.edu/primelab/introduction/ams.html

From what I gather, the issue is that mass spectrometry involves mass, lol. So when things have the same mass, the spectrometer reads it as the same thing. So Carbon-14 and Nitrogen-14 having the same mass messing the readings up (loosing an electron means nothing, they have very very very small mass). I also saw a mention of CH2 present in the sample causing the same problem, as it also has the same basic mass.

From what I can tell, this problem is limited only to MS techniques of measuring C-14.

I know you mentioned other questions, but I don't remember what they were, lol, so feel free to post them up again. I googled "carbon-14 nitrogen-14 problems" and got a whole lot of absolute crap, except the ol' standbys Wikipedia and some science site I don't remember 'cause it's in my favorites. Those sites are your best bet for general info, but I can find some others if you're interested.

So its possible for a "fly" to attain light speed?

i take it seriously because i take everything seriously, often to a fault. it's partially due to a combination of too much ego and too little self-esteem (even though that combination may seem unlikely or even contradictory). this leads to anger and irritation over stupid, little things.

why do you take it seriously enough to keep it in the forefront of your thoughts and posts?

I dont just curious why some people take internet seriously not unless if you really know the person your talking to.

it seems like you do. you do talk about it on a regular basis, don't you? how curious can you be? much of this negativity has been directed at your online persona. i don't know what's real about you. you could be a dude for all i know, but it doesn't matter. i'll assume you're real for the nonce. i wouldn't blame you for being annoyed at it.

you can insist otherwise, but it goes counter to what i believe is fundamental in human nature. people can and will get annoyed at almost anything in almost any situation for almost any conceivable reason. the details differ, and it's always a matter of degree. most people, for example, won't bother to say anything when something annoying happens...but it doesn't mean that they don't experience annoyance, even if for only the most brief flash of time.

i believe that we usually care what other people think of us. what others say about us. how they treat us. again, some are affected more than others. if you are different, than you are the rare exception. the divison between online or offline is often artificial. if you say you are not offended or annoyed by what others say about you here, that may be true, but it's quite possibly a choice. a conscious decision that you apply after an initial, reflexive reaction.

but before you tell yourself that there is no reason to be annoyed, how do you feel? are you not moved in the slightest by the idea that someone has apparently disrespected you? no? why? only because you don't know the person? what if some stranger walks up to you in "real life", calls you a cunt, and then walks away? most people would be upset by that. but as long as we're being high-minded, there's no need to care about something like that, either. after all, it's only a stranger, right? he doesn't know you, and you care nothing for him. he doesn't matter. there's no reason to be upset. but still, you might be.

I wub you.... ;) and No I am not a dude but yet like what I said in the beggining you eitheir take it or leave it.

I totally agree with you.... I'll admit I get annoyed by some of the people out here who keep on bringing me down but not to the effect that I will take what the say seriously or let it affect me because I know myself and I know I am not that kind of person whatever they are accusing me of.

It will affect me if someone that I know say rude remarks about me but if just a random person that I dont know then I really could careless and just move on.

Is different of course if someone walks in front of me and touch me...then that's getting out of the line that will be the time that I would step up and defend myself.
