why do people congratulate you on getting married?
not saying that i don't appreciate it.. as it shows some type of caring for me on their part.. but why?
i mean really.. all you've done is enter into a legal binding, govt sanctioned contract that is really just utilized to make it easier for the state to split up real property/chattels in case the personal relationship for which you've taken part in and try to guarantee said relationship's lifespan... kinda like a warranty on an automobile's transmission..
ok ok.. so it may make some women feel a sense of accomplishment... which i'll never understand either seeing as most women will marry any tom, dick or harry who asks them.. just so they can feel that sense of accomplishment.. which then means it really was no accomplishment at all since they just "settled".. know what i mean sam?
but why would they congratulate a guy?
i can honestly say that i will never.. ever.. never ever ever.. make a decision in life where simply being "married" would have an effect on that decision.. besides of course taking legal/financial actions to safeguard monies/property that have either been granted to my wife through the contract of marriage.. or to me by the government through that marriage (i.e. taxes and such)..
is that what we're congratulating? getting a tax break? if so.. why not say so?
