Why do I dis-like this type of music?

Ever since I was born, I've been surrounded around "dance" music. My parents "back in the day" used to have A LOT of friends that owned dance clubs. So, since my parents were kind of broke. And couldn't afford a babysitter (and didn't trust them), I always went every weekend with them to the clubs. Yes! Even at 3 years old I was in the clubs. Since they're friends owned the clubs, I would just sit behind the bar for hours until my parents decided to go home.

"I'm latin by the way" so Salsa/Dance music was ALWAYS around me.

This weekend "clubbing" shit went on for many years thereafter. I think it all came to an end when I was 10 or 11 years old.

You would think that me being "LATIN" and being surrounded by "dance" music all my life I would like it. And know how to dance it. But! I don't like it all! I can't dance it because I don't want to dance it. And hell! I don't care for it!

I hate being with my friends and they all say..."lets go to a club". ARgh! I hate that.

I went not too long ago to a club with my ex-wife and I was bored out of my goddamn mind. Not to mention I was also feeling a bit sick that night. Don't know what happened. Could've been the starbucks I had before going? And the cigarette smoke in the air? Who knows. lol

To me...when I listen to "club" music (whether it be american or latin dance music), I think to myself..."What guy would like this shit? This to me sounds like girly music". To me (and this is just MY opinion....but "dance" music is for WOMEN. The music sounds toooooo fucking weak and pussy for me.

I even had this type of mentality when I was a little boy! Imagine that!

Why do I think like this? Why do other "men" think this music is cool? Yet I think it's fucking fag as shit! Crap...I remember being 7 years old behind a bar at a club. And a woman grabbed me to teach me how to dance. She asked me..."why the long face"? I clearly remember saying at 7 years old...."this music is for girls". ROFLMAO!!!!

By the way...MY music is old school (late 90's-early 2000's) Hip-Hop and Hard Rock/Metal.

I've loved this type of music since I was 5. Yet...no one I know both friends and family like the music I like. They all like that fag ass weak bitch dance music.

Corny as hell! And the lyrics for dance music SUUUUCK!

The question stands...

Why do I dis-like this music so much? Ever since I was 3 years old!

Is this because of HIGH testosterone levels? I didn't have HIGH testosterone levels at 3! So.....wtf?
 
it's probably because you shouldn't have been exposed to it so long as a kid while your parents are having fun, you should have been with a sitter, so you are conditioned to picture yourself alone or bored behind a bar while your parents are having fun and not paying attention to you... you got over exposed to it as well...

Maybe...
 
It's not the music, it is the scene. There are many sides to electronic music, something I learn the deeper I get into the industry.
 
So I'm psychologically scarred?

Then why like hard hip-hop (not this new clubby hip-hop) and hard rock/metal? As a form of rebellion? As a way of distinguishing my own self and not joining the conformist ways of others?
 
What is it about the scene I don't really care for??? I'm still baffled why I don't give a flying shit for this type of music/fun. Yet...8/10 people prefer and like this. Yet...I don't.
 
It's because it's what is popular now , if you've noticed, all the tools on the radio , all they have is dance music in the background lol, now if u want manly techno "DUBStEP" is where it's at lol.. But I'm with u man I like early hip hop where they had lyrical skill and not just a techno beat with some autotune to turn people on ...
 
My friend spins Latin House and he is not Gay, he started out as a bouncer at Space actually. Electronic music is very diverse and most of you do not understand that. I listen to all sorts of music, but also electronic music.
It is similar to whatever you currently listen to.
Rock has pop, underground etc..

I'd rather listen to plank shit on a snare drum than anything from the "dance" genre. The only music genre worse than top 40 and modern "pop" country.

It's a strange question to ask a bunch of strangers...

usually music that reminds me of my parents/childhood I like... generally I don't hate the music I was exposed to as a child. lol my parents listened to soft rock.

That's EXACTLY how I see it. It's fucking GAY as hell! Even the guys dancing it look GAAAAAYYYY!!! Theres NO WAY IN HELL any man can possibly look "manly" dancing such pussy music and the MOST GAYEST OF ALL WAYS.

I remember when I was young and first hooked up with my girlfriend (now ex-wife). She was really into Salsa. And so I wanted to impress her. So I took up Salsa dancing classes. GAY!!!

I remember after going for 6 damn long weeks. I was finally getting very, very frustrated. I felt so damn gay it wasn't even funny.

The damn instructor...you know what he and she told me??? "When you dance, act and feel like your gay". I was like...WTF!!!!

I bounced! I never came back. I didn't even pay for the last week. I felt insulted and so UN-manly. I honestly felt fucking GAY!!

Make sense. I mean...If I'm "exposed" to a certain music since little...why dislike it? If anything wouldn't that mean I like it?

I have seen many metalhead parents expose their kids to rock/metal and those little kids like it! And grow up to be headbangers.

I never ONCE recall listening to my parents/culture music and saying..."I like this". Always thought it was weak and pussy.

I watch Jersey Shore from time to time. And the music they play there? HOLY HELL!!! Retarded! It's gay as hell. It's like girly music and belongs to girls. NOT MEN.

See? WTF is wrong with me? Why why why? Why do I think like this? Since 3 years old I've been thinking like this?! Come on!

What 3 year old walks around thinking certain music is WEAK and PUSSY? I did! Why????

Was I some HARDCORE 3 year old with extreme high levels of Testosterone? LOL
 
Just like to add that I'm NOT anti-social at all. I enjoy going out. Meeting new people. Talking to people. Having a couple of drinks. Listening to music. Going places etc etc. But "clubs" with the whole scene and the music. Blah!

30 minutes is the most I can probably put up with it. Then I need to get the fuck out.

From what I "quickly" found on Youtube. I wasn't impressed very much. Perhaps what i found was not the correct thing TO impress me? I was in a rush.

But then I quickly typed Dubstep and choose whatever I quickly saw. And instantly said to myself..."Yup! This shit is better...skrillex is gay weak". LOL
