Why do Americans and Canadians spell certain words

differently?
ive always wondered it
like canadians spell color colour
but yet we spell glamour instead of glamor

and no im not joking, im just wondering

and my favorite colors are......lime green and that mango orange lol
i like those kinds of colors

webster (of websters dictionary)

was making a dictionary of words and chagned some of the spelling of certain words to differentiate ourselves from the motherland of england after our indepenece

Webster - wrote the dictionary to separate the States from Britain
Although I think it pronounced better with the U
its col-er
no col-ore

I remember seeing a dough nought before as opposed to donut...that's fucked up

The Canadian dictionary is full of words of whose spelling makes no sense whatosever.

Many of the spellings have stayed the course of time mainly due to laziness and arrogance. "It's been like this for ages -- why change it".

and the coloUrs and cenTRE's will continue for decades more to come. :)
