Why are they still offering new computers with Windows XP on them??

I assumed if I bought a new machine that it would be Vista....but lots of sites out there allow you to choose. I don't get it, why are they still shipping XP? Does Vista suck that bad?

I prefer xp..Maybe that is becasue I am more used to it..but from my few experiences with Vista, it sucks ass!

Yeah. Probably will til sometime early next year at least. Still a lot of bugs, even MS devotees are grumbling of how it isn't running well or cooperating well with peripheral hardware, games, etc. It looks cool though, lol. If I was getting a new PC now I'd definitely still use XP for another year or so. By then Vista should be pretty solid.

heh...weird...well, this is for a secondary computer sort of.....a laptop that I use for working on site for clients...i kinda wanted to try vista out anyway, but now I'm not not so sure.

seems in the past that once they started shipping a new OS, they phased out the old one a lot quicker

It's up to the manufacturer of the computer what to load, if microsoft had it their way no more xp would ever be sold. They try to incent everyone to move on.

And it's not a scenario where they bought X number of XP and they need ot move them before loading Vista, thats not the way MS OEM works.

when i bought my new computer it was the day vista came out...and no its not because i have to have to latest and greatest. i was shopping for a new computer the friday before and all the computers in all the stores were GONE except for floor models. they told me they sold all the ones with xp because the vista comes out monday and theres no sense having the xp ones around. so i like a dumb ass waited. well vista sucks ass. just when i thought i had a good deal on a complete system with flat lcd monitor i then realized i needed a new video card and more memory. who the fuck sells a brand new computer and right out of the box has to upgrade it??? its slow, choppy and im sorry i bought it. i should have took the hell of a deal they were trying to give me on a floor model with xp on it.

I still buy our company PCs with XP on them. Most businesses don't upgrade operating systems until the first service pack comes out. Dell's customers pressured them into doing it.

We upgrade PC's over a two year period and most of them just barely meet the Vista specs.

our comps are on a 3-year recycle plan and we are not going to roll out Vista until SP1 hits but our new machines have enough power to run Vista

You don't want no vista jerky. They just add a bunch of flashy crap that makes you run slower. It's just like CS2 (CS3 soon). Photoshop 7 is a rocket compaired to CS2, and there's not a lot different in functionality.

Edit: Oh yeah IllustratorCS2 is way better than CS, simply for the Trace features. If you work with line art it fucking ROCKS!

I think they just released that Master Creative suite that has like every friggin adobe product included....2500 bucks....i'll probably still find another way to get it though

Ironically the less powerful PS2 is still going strong since 2000.
