Why are chinups so tough to do multiple sets ??

I can handle max out bench press, or military press till my balls bust, but doing multiple sets of chinups for me is so freaking tough. I can do 10 in a row very slow with good form no problem, then wait 60seconds and try the second set is much harder, can only do like 8, and a third set just rapes me.

any tips ?

you can try adding weight to yourself, doing sets of 5. Once you feel you've added enough weight to be able to do 10 reps of your bodyweight, try it out.

they are ass kickers. but from neverbeing able to do a chinup mywhole life to be able to hit sets of 10 now at 230 sure satisfies the hell outta me. new goal is 20 hehe

any tips? STICK WITH IT BRO!!! You will improve over time. I remember when I was doing 1 rep sets of chins,,,now I can rep out forever.

Agreed. I used to suck at chins but now I can rep it out.

Obviously whatever you do at the beginning of your workout seems to be 'easier' because you aren't fatigued yet, right? (after warm up). Instead of doing back to back sets, why not dispurse the chinups throghout the whole routine? Iv'e been doing chinups 3 times a week, on my Back day, Bi day, and on my 'rest' day =]
And from the begining (165lbs) I could only do 3 sets of 6 (in a row) Now (205lbs) i can do 4 sets of 8 (which i try for a new max every Saturday)

so

Tue and Fri i do 3-5 sets over 1.5 hours, and on saturday or sunday I just try and max rep/set

keep doing them. for me, the lighter i am the more i can do, but its still all relevant to back strength in general. heavy widegrip pulldowns can help a lot. when i was 160 i was doing around 30 chins, now im nearly 200 and doing 10 for a warmup set before my back workout.

every one right with sticking with it. Heres a ass kicker workout for those pulls.
regular grip 1x8,6,4,2 plams faceing out, hands shoulder width
reverse grip 1x8,6,4,2 plams faceing you
close grip 1x8,6,4,2 plams out, hands close
wide grip 1x8,6,4,2 plam out
moutain climbers 1x8,6,4,2 one palm faceing out the in,hands about shoulder width.this feels wierd
total pull ups 100
Do it one or two times aweek

It will get easier with time. Weight plays a major role in it. So does your bicepes and lat strength. Muscle endurance plays a role in how many reps you can do. Exercises that require body-resistance, like push-ups, situps and chin-ups require muscle endurance. You get that with time.

I do chin-ups and pull-ups a lot and they are so good becuase they work out many muscles at the same time. Anyways I wait 3 mins between sets and that allows me to be consistent between sets.
