it has better timing on the valves, so it has tons better performance, but not that distinctive sound...

Seen it. All the old school H-D guys I've spoken with hate it. Most of the newer yuppie H-D guys hate it too (they want to be seen as hardcore bikers). I think Harley is catering more towards all of the sales they have been losing to the Nomad, Vulcan, etc. It rev's to 9,000 and makes around 107hp at the tire. Not too bad for H-D's first attempt.

I'm curious to ride the new Buell. 52" wheelbase, 21 degree front end, that bike should go around corners pretty well. What H-D should have done though was to stick the motor in the new harley into the Buell.

I couldn't agree more. Most of them anymore are yuppie-ass lawyers and doctors who dress up on the weekends to be rebellious. Almost all Harley guys anymore are wannabe's. I respect the true bikers but most of them are posers. Just look at what they wear: All official H-D merchandise. Pleeeease.

did anyone else here read the Wired article (probably a month or two back) about the future of motorcycles.
I personally don't ride and don't really have any interest - but there was some cool shit in there - looks and speed.

what makes someone a true biker? long dirty disgusting hair and a messy untrimmed beard? a big fat belly and lots of tatoos without any real job? sounds like someone who deserves lots of respect and admiration.

Personally I hate Harley's. Old technology, poor performance, poor reliability and ugly looks. A true biker is an "old school" rider who has ridden daily for years. That takes commitment and dedication not much different from sticking to the gym everyday.

BPB, I do kinda like the way the new bike looks. I'm going to ride the Buell first chance I get and put it through some corners. See if I can get it to tankslap... lol.

I think that thing looks bad ass! It says it spits out 115 horsies. That's a beast. Prolly run about high $30's.

BPB, that all depends on volumetric efficiency, cam timing, the design of the cylinders, psi. etc. In terms of psi, 210-220 is pretty safe with premium unleaded.
