Gotta disagree. Zane is much more attainable than Arnold is.
 
Kevin Levrone.. So damn massive shoulders and triceps that its amazing. Also, he has a TINY waistline.

I agree, the extreme increase in leg size is one of the things I hate about current bodybuilders. I mean, don't have chicken legs, but having a greyhound bus for legs also isn't attractive in any way.
 
This is an oldie, but I've been thinking about this one again. About Zane mostly. Having just returned from this year's Iowa State championships (yes, not much competition up here, but there are a handful of great quality builders...) I've got a whole new perspective on size. Zane is said to have won one Olympia at 177 lbs. and another (1979 I believe) at 198 or so. Now Zane, at his peak, was actually quite ripped- good even by modern standards of conditioning. So, with that in mind I've been comparing that bodyweight to guys with similar condition at the local show I just attended.

There was a great middleweight who weighed 171 and was ripped at roughly the same height as Zane. To me, this would be a little small for an ideal walking around weight. The heavyweights came in somewhere around 215-220 and were each a little taller than Zane- which puts them ar roughly the same size per inch as Zane was at his biggest and best at just a hair under 200 lbs. (think 5-10 lbs per inch) In my eyes This is a perfect weight. Adjusted to my height that would put me at a ripped 225-250 lbs!! Wish I could post pics of these guys to illustrate. But, I'm sure most have a good frame of reference.

The standards for pros has definately changed, with 5'9" Jay at 265 lbs. I respect that, but would love to look like Zane.

big poppa pump was one one my favorite wrestlers. he was awesomely huge.
 
Arnold was and is still the best looking trre trunk I think that will ever be. But I don't want to look like someone else, I want to look like me because thats's why I do this.
 
i bet u guys if u put pixs of those guys body up and told chicks to pick.. zane would win hands down

Yep. There isn't a woman alive who would have a problem with the body of Zane or Reeves.

As an aside, I HEARD, that Reeves was like the worst lover in the world but he got more tang than anybody. No wonder. He was a great looking guy with the perfect body. Maybe because it came so easily he never had to think about anything but getting off and getting out!

Seriously however, I like the fact that he was very thick & powerful, and more importantly a very well rounded athlete. (boxed & did strongman competitions)
 
Actually I just thought... I also really love the physique of "The Black Prince" Robby Robinson. It is really tough to pick just one. hehe

i picked arnie. Because of his shape and height. He looks huge standing next to the other guys on stage because he is much taller.
 
I definately prefer the more "athletic" look such as the likes of Flex Wheeler, Dexter Jackson and Shawn Ray. Sad fact is, these guys are often overlooked in favour of the mass monsters.

Yates or Coleman's bodies, they were freaks. I'd rather have BEEN Arnold, the true king and what an achiever !!! Movie star, politician etc. etc.
 
Bill Pearl in 1971.
He beat everybody but Arnold and Arnold would not take a chance against him.
Pearl was as strong as he looked too.
 
Damn! I know the guy came out of the closest on the Oprah show, but Bob Paris at his peak had the "perfect" body. Haven't to this day seen anyone that can touch him. Honestly the pros today are super freaky! I admire their hard work, but ask most women and they will all say that it's either too much or scary. This is just my opinion. I wish had his workout logs and AAS cycles on hand. It would almost be as good as having the "Holy Grail" Word!
 
after viewing his mexico thread pics here; i'd say pdaddyII is a good target for "body snatching".
 
Not that he had the most complete physique or best proportions...

But it's gotta be Arnold. He was an idol to me when I was growing up and he still is. If I could look like someone, it'd have to be him.

Crazy ass biceps and that small waist gave him that ridiculous and much desired look. Plus, movies like Pumping Iron, Conan, Terminator, etc helped cement his legacy as a total badass. Every manly man wants to be like Arnold.
 
haven't really been posting the last couple YEARS lol. I'll go with Shawn Ray as my ultimate goal and Frank Zane as my potentially realistic ideal. Yes I know that it's not realistic either.
 
Arnold will always be the legend to me. There are bigger mass monsters out there but Arnold had the whole package.Though I would add a little meat to his legs!
 
No denying what Arnold did for the sport, and I look up to him as well. But realistically, and by all accounts, he got fucking owned by Mike Mentzer at the 1980 Olympia. The judging had to be fixed. I didn't believe it either until I ordered the 1980 Olympia dvd and saw for myself. Mentzer was at his all time best, and Arnold wasn't even close to his best. Mentzer was also the superior poser that day. Just an opinion I share with the majority of the people that were there.
