Who owns a Handgun here?

Just wondering. I'm looking to purchase a handgun. I used to have a 12g remington which i got rid of when i moved the city last year. MISTAKE!!!

Anyways, this is gonna be for defense. soo i'm lookin' @ .38's. They seem to be the most logical choice for me, since i'm in a populated area, and i wouldn't be worried about the person i shoot getting up. a .38 hollow point would do the job i'm sure.

So what are your thoughts?

anyone that is against guns, i don't wanna hear it.. so don't post please.

thanks

I own a Glock 27, .40 caliber. Pretty sweet.

bought the wifey a S/W .357 Ladysmith...she hates it though (too much poop) and will only shot .38's outa it...

Since your considering it for defense, I suggest a revolver....less chance of misfire, but also less shots than most semis.

.38 is a good caliber, unless your attacker is on PCP...

There are a few threads dedicated to this question in the Outdoors Forum. Some good info in there. That's just what I hear though. I never go in there. I hate guns. ;)

Revolvers do not jam and you really aren't looking for semi-automatic fire.

I prefer a .357 S&W with Pachmayr handgun grips. It sits nice in your hand, has good balance, heavy enough to not transfer the shock and the grips save your palm. You can use 38's reloads on the rnage and then 357 hollows for business. No dramatics ... point and shoot.

If you want an automatic, try the Colt 45 with grips. Testing showed that it elicted the most fear when viewed pointing at the person. It kicks and stops! Get it dark and used (inspected and safe). Says you are serious.

In my belt is good ol' Colt 38 snub nose, blue steel. If you place the barrel right under the base of the ear ... that little soft spot ... the person will urinate and tell you anything ... in that order.

In my desk is an unresistered Colt 22 revolver ... no history of any kind.

Have to tell you though ... Best home defense is a 12 guage Winchester pump. You can't miss and it really stops.

Mine sits right next to my new AK-47 purchased over the internet, legally. Love the lifting of that hippy Brady Law.

Happy shooting.

There are few weapons that are more devastating than a 12 gauge at close range....you got rid of yours, might as well get another one for home defense. If you are carrying on the street then there are many, many good choices. I like Taurus Titanium revolvers, very light and concealable, and they have lots of models in a 38 cal. If you want something that is very small that still packs a good punch, try a Kel Tec .380. It's small enough to hide in the palm of your hand and a .380 is a pretty serious round for a pocket gun. Lots of choices, buy as many guns as you can afford. This is good for the gun industry, it's good for your "Constitution" :) and it pisses off the anti-gun nutsacks that infest our society.

cant go wrong with a Glock...S&W revolvers are great too...im not the hugest fan of the .38 caliber, but it should get the job done.

.38 special ain't that bad. Many PDs used to be issued these with the famous "FBI load" (158gr LSWC +P). Just make sure to put at least 2 rounds on your target.
