Who loves their job?

I get up everyday put in 10 to 12 hours, go to the gym, eat go to bed and start all over again. I should not bitch. I make great money, but I have no passion for what I do. I am thinking of switching industries, but I can not make the money I am making now. It would not be such a big deal to take a cut in pay. However, I just bought a new home, car, bike, boat, ect. Now I am trapped.

hey Bull start pinching off a bit of the extra cash to put away for what I call the runnaway fund

you use that cash if you do go into another industry and need the extra cash to keep all the toys paid for. Also have you tried setting goals for your job? Try longterm, midterm, and shortterm(daily, and weekly) goals

most people go into different industries, but I think generally people would be more happy with money and if they were able to turn their boring jobs into challenging ones with the right goals...

TX, that is a good idea. However, this might sound corny, but I need a purpose. I look at my father and sisters, and I make 4 times as much as they do, but they make a difference in peoples lives everyday. The problem is I do not know what I want to do. I do other things such as volunteer for "Kids Alliance" and other charities, but most of my life is spent at work making rich greedy bastards richer. I just do not want to turn into one of those bastards.

well you can help make me a rich bastard. ever thought about adopting a kid? or joining one of the big brother programs? How about those programs that help build a house for a faimly?

Heres a purpose You can help me become wealthy so I can inturn help my grandparents live comfortable for the last few years of their life, start a college fund for my 2 youngest cousins, including the newest who will have the burden of carying on the faimly name since I'm not planning on getting married of having kids.

and then when I'm done with helping the faimly out, I want to sail away and help poor foreign kids get into colleges in the U.S. and hopefully do better then me.

I have thought about adopting a kid. I also help my family out regularly. I really want kids, and maybe one day I will have them. I just have to wrestle through some issue of mine on that. By the way what is your background and what are you studying?

well I'm about to start working for a Collections company you know basically calling people about paying their bills. I was studying computer information systems, but changing it back to Economics with minors in marketing and Mgt. The CIS major was another Computer science program really

I have been helping my parents invest their money for the past 5 years. Only real tools I can offer is the ability to read people...I'm a people person

as far as college well I'm taking a break to get back my motivation to make the grades

Bull the Big Brother program is really a good way of helping someone out.

I did it for 5 years and it was really rewarding, it was nice to help out someone who didn't have it as good as I did growing up. I should point out it was the times when we did stuff that didn't cost any money that we had the best of times.

It really made me take a look and realize how good I had it while growing up.

Being able to read people will get you a long way. I have degrees in Pre-med, and Psychology. I was not making any money in previous fields, but by being able read the right people I landed a management position in a tyelecommunications company and am now VP of Ops in one year and with no experience in that industry. You would think I would be satisfied. Good luck on getting the motivation. I remeber how hard it was to stay centered in college.l

I work with small children at one job, and sell supplements (legal ones ;) ) and my other job...I love every minute of both.

After college, I'm going to teach high school English...and am looking forward to it--so much so that I plan on graduating in 3 years...:D

I couldn't do something that I don't enjoy...

Congrats Bull. The Amercian Dream. Make big money, buy the things you want, and then YOUR POSSESSIONS OWN YOU.

I feel for you. I really do. I know many people in similar positions, and I am ever-vigilant with what I do with my money because of situations like yours. And I understand all too well the way you feel.

Rather than give you additional freedom, your money has restricted your freedom.

I don't think there is an easy answer for you. The only change you can make seems to be to just walk away from it.

If I have time I will email you something. I have more views on this.
