Who lifts relatively heavy in the mornings???

what do you do to properly warmup, my joints/muscles dont seemed to get warmed up until the 2nd or 3rd exercise no matter what i do beforehand to warmup....i cant lift anywhere near the weights i normally do....im new at this first in the morning crap and i aint liking it. :worried:
 
I have lifted in the morning for most of my short lifting career. I love it. Some ephedrine/coffee can help wake you up. Try doiing 10 minutes of cardio before lifting to warm everything up. It's especially tough in the winter, cause your body is just fucking frozen in the morning. The cardio seems to help.

yea, the waking up part isnt really the problem, i guess i gotta up the cardio warmup before hand, i do a couple minutes but i dont have the patience to go the full 5-10minutes.

I never do the cardio, but it is something I am really trying to concentrate on. I think it's very important in the morning. Try it for a week and see if it makes a difference.

Haha, i caught the fatty comment dick. I have been doing 20-30 minutes of cardio after my weight workout , what i meant is before my workout , the anticipation of hitting the iron gets me to excited to walk on the treadmill for 5-10 minutes.

That's what I was talking about too. I know what you mean about the anticipation, BUT, if it will help your lifting, why not try it? Like i said, try it for a few days and see what you think.

2 (or 3 or 4) cups of strong nawliz style coffee and an occassional fat burner gets me going....also 5 minutes on the treadmill before i start lifting works for me.

'course, "early" for me is 11 am............NOT a morning person!!!

11 am..i freakin wish...im there at 6 am and im still late to work afterwards everyday.
 
I had to have a few good meals in me before the workout otherwise the energy levels were non existent.

I found I was also far stronger in the afternoons.
 
Yeah coffee and a lil cardio is a must. But Im up at 5:30am
 
If I train legs on Sat morning (as opposed to Tues or Wed night) Ill go heavy. But no matter what I always do a 6 minutes of treadmill followed by a good 15 minutes of warmup and stretching.

Even then I dont really feel "warmed up" until my 2nd or 3rd set of legs.

andyes caffeine and a little ephedrine help a lot.. need that CNS stimulation.

Yep..it has alot to do with carbs and your muscles being depleted in the morning.
 
i work the 4pm to whatever shift....usually outta there around midnight....awake until 2 or 3 am.........fall outta bed 7 hours later
 
i feel to weak to workout in the morning

Does your gym have a steam room or sauna (dry heat)? Whirpool?

In the winter especially I sit in the hot box for 5-7 minutes followed by 5 mintues on the bike.
 
cardio is great to warm up but i dont have teh patience for that either.

what i would do is just warm up with weights.. either do some olympic lifts.. squats / deads or some high rep movements on the muscles you are going to workout.
