Sorry for all the questions today. BUt my Walkman has not been working right since Saturday when in the middle of my run the volume suddenly went from 9 to 3 and it stuck at 3 now and wont go up. I also get this AVLS flashing on the little screen when i try to press the +volume button. I have tried everything. What does AVLS mean and why is my Walkman on the fritz?

dunno, but I would go out and get an mp3 cd player walkman type thing, and purchase the extended warranty. then in about a year or 2 break it and take it back and get a brand new one..even if it was working fine.....i am always breaking them damn things.

Well shit, that's clever.

hey smurfy -

i had a great sony cd walkman that i used all the time. one day, it just broke. it wasn't even 2 years old yet. i took it to an electronics store to see if it could be fixed, but i was told that the life of those things isn't much longer than two years - if that. so, you'll probably just have to go out and buy a new one.

i now have an mp3 player and it was a great investment!!! so worth the money.

avls = automatic volume limiting system. it should be de/activated by a switch somewhere on the unit itself. sometimes it's found on the underside or back of the player, but also it can be found on the inside of the player (on the bed, where the CD itself sits)...so look all around and make sure the AVLS isn't on.

Thanks Jackangel!!! I looked on the bed of the player and there was a switch for ESP but not AVLS. so i started pressing buttons and there is this sound button that adjusts the bass and whatnot. well i held it down for like 3 seconds and the AVLS is off!! phew!!! now i can listen to Metallica at full blast!
