not sure i'm going to use it b/c i also have a muscle relaxer which i think will do the trick at night. i'll be chillaxin with the Skelaxin tonight hopefully that will alleviate this intense back pain i have at night

Ultram was the one pain med that totally took my back pain away like magic,
yet still left me not drowsy or loopy

Tramodol worked great for me when I had back problems last winter.

how did your back issues get resolved>?

Cortisone and therapy.

I went to a sports therapy guy who does "Myofascial Release Therapy". It's sort of like deep tissue massage I guess, except they claim "it's NOT massage". It was a huge help for me.

I just woke up one morning in December with extreme, nearly-debilitating back pain, out of the blue. The only symptoms I'd had prior to that were that my lower back would get "tight" if I went for a long walk. I had been walking the day before this hit me.

yeah I've been having similar symptoms for well over 6 months - myback gets very sore and tight if i am standing/walking for a while and at night when i'm in bed i have excruciating pain and i get "stuck" if i'm l aying on my back and i have to yell and moan in order to turn over to my side. it hurts so bad and wtf I feel like im 90 yrs old over here.

i do have scoliosis with a 22 degree curvature between T11 and L4 with vertebrae that are rotated (common with curvature of the spine) but according to the Orthopaedic Spine Specialist, this is not what's causing me pain, It's more muscle spasm from what he could see from my examination. I hope the PT will alleviate the problems I'm having but if not, MRI time.

it constipates you

Holy crap, I sought treatment after only a few days, I can't imagine enduring that for months on end. I couldn't sleep, I couldn't roll over in bed, I couldn't find a comfortable spot or position.

I tried a chiro but he didn't help anything so after three visits in less than a week I tried an MD that a co-worker recommended. He prescribed pain meds and corticosteroids, and gave me a big shot of prednisone in the office, and also prescribed sessions with the therapist, who just happened to share a lobby with the MD...

The pain meds and corticosteroids helped a whole lot, I was able to function at a near-normal level after only a couple of days. The therapist identified several "alignment" issues caused by some interrelated muscle spasms in my back and shoulder, causing my pelvis to "rotate" and my left shoulder to droop. With weekly visits over a period of two months, he worked on those areas with the myofascial release therapy and it seemed to work. Symptoms have not returned and I can walk without the lower back tightness building up like the winding of a watch spring.

During this time I was under a lot of stress due to the downward spiral of my dad's health. Stress tends to exacerbate these sorts of muscle issues, I think it's a testimony to the efficacy of the MRT techniques that I was able to recover during that period, and didn't relapse when my dad died in February.

I hope you can get some relief.

Tramadol/Ultram turns me into a sleepy, hungover feeling zombie like other pain meds. But As long as I eat beforehand it doesn't turn my stomach inside out. They gave it to me for the busted up finger and told me to take Motrin with it as well. worked well except for being a zombie.

Thanks. Yeah I did wait a while to seek treatment mostly because I have had other back issues - probably nerve related - that would end up resolving on their own and so I was hopeful.
Last night I took a muscle relaxant before bed but still had the excruciating pain in the middle of the night when I ended up on my back. I dont really want to take pain pills even though they're non=narcotic, it's not my idea of a good time.

I also had Myofascial trigger points on either side on my lower spine that you could easily feel sticking out like large quarter sized knots. Standing wasn't so bad pain wise, but sitting was murder as it put a lot of pressure on my lower back. And lying down in bed on my back also pressed on them causing pain. Many times I would need to lay on my stomach or side for a while just to get some relief so that I could maybe fall asleep.

Had therapy to basically massage and smash them out slowly, along with corticosteroid injections directly into the trigger points a few times. What has helped relieve them for the most part recently is daily core strengthening exercises and a LOT of daily post workout lower back stretching exercises.. I think the constant stretching has helped the most in my case to be honest. Mine is totally a soft tissue problem vs a spinal one, so you may be different.

Have someone show you several lower back specific stretching moves that you can do, and do them daily or even multiple times a day if possible.

Unfortunately with the heavier strength training I have been doing lately, the trigger points are starting to come back and bother me a bit.

I was just a little "loopy" on it, but it seemed more like a mood thing than a physical impairment. I became easily amused.

Thanks to everyone who lied and said this Tramadol would make me feel awesome. I dont feel any different after about 45 minutes. took one 50 mg pill. i dont feel a thing. my husband however is giddy over here on marijuana and ambien.

It may take more than one dose before it really kicks in.

And individuals' reactions to pain meds are very, uh, individual.
