White bread, first toasty now

Sorry...I'm going to be a "crumb" on your thread ...

I have a ? for you Miss Vel....please!

Have you, or any of your clients, ever had a concrete counter top installed in their homes? Did they like it? Would they do it again? Better surface than stone or tile?

I've doing some reading on the process and I am REEEEALLLY thinking of having concrete counter tops installed when we re-do our kitchen. I'm loving the look of it with all the options for color and texture's.

Any advice or thoughts welcome..Thanks!

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I'm fairly sure that I do not know how to respond. So I will go with the standard....

Yes, yes and while it will stand up like stone I don't imagine the life span to be as long as something like granite - but who's say because it hasn't been around as long.

If that is the look you want GO FOR IT.

There are other options, similiar in look - I'll gather them up for you in the next 48 hours.

I would totally recommend it and have.

I have a photo somewhere.... hmmm

They are quite versatile, however cost wise it can be almost as expensive as granite!

I've seen some wonderful pictures of the polished conrete - IT LOOKS LIKE REAL STONE! I'm sooooo loving the idea of installing this type of surface.

I spoke with my cupboard maker and he will have to "adjust" the plans in order to have the cab's carry such a load. HEAVY STUFF!

My mind is reeling with all the different things I could have done with this surface as well. Perhaps some fancy brush strokes while it's still wet...ORRRRR...Maybe some inlays with copper AND brass!ENDLESS IDEAS I WOULD IMAGINE!

THANK YOU! Let me know what ya find..Don;t spend too much time cuz I know you're busy...But... if ya have something handy..I'd love it!

Vixed, I did stained conctete as my fooring downstairs in my condo. I did look into doing a polished concrete countertop in my master bath, but was costly because so few people do it!

NeedleBoy....Thanks ...Would you have it done again? Are you happy with it? I do not mind spending the $$$ cuz it'll be the last time I invest in such a project. I want to love it for a looooong time and be happy with my final choice! Know what I mean?

Sorry to ruin your thread Vel...Forgive me.....

Still cheaper than stone at $ 90-125. Granite is DAMN pricey around here , perhaps everywhere!!!! I had a quote for granite at $135.00 sq. ft. installed! YIKES! Sell the kid....

I also happen to know someone who pours cement for a living. I wonder.....Hmmmmm, I bet he could do it!

I'd do the floors again in a minute!! I am having them re-sealed because I do not like the epoxy product they used. As for the counter -tops I's love to try them, I may try to build them myself. I have a neaighbor who runs Seamco one of the countries largest concrete products manufacturer and he would help I'm sure.

As for cost, if your doing floors it will run you $4-$6 per sq/ft in Tampa! My countertop was gonna be around $400 for a 6ft X 2.5 ft piece.

I'm having very light Birch cupboards built with a whitewash to them. VERY FRENCH INSPIRED!

I'm digging the thought of a creamy color for the countertops with a hint of peach color in it. The texture would be BEAUTIFUL!

Sound sweet. I like french country it cozy. I re-ded my condo as a loft, very industrial, metal stairs, stainless steel kitchen etc.

vix!

what colors are you thinking of?
I can get you samples.

ACK.

PM me.
Or I'll PM you. or something.

*ahem*

Maybe I could get a professional opinion on the Uses of a Bathtub???

lol...I guess my color choice sucks..

I was thinking a cream(whiteish) hint of peachy tanish color mixed . Kinda hard to explain ...

My cupboards will be WHITE washed with that creamy whiteish, peach undertone in it.
