There was some white boy who put up a poster along the same lines, go for some African American Award. It was fucking priceless. With his picture up with this "without a clue" grin on his face, and the bold-faced print reads, "African American Student".
 
hmm....

depends on the reason for the award....if its for students from disadvantaged backgrounds (assuming most blacks live in ghetto area;s there) then theirs no merit in their arguement other than a technicality

however it would be nice to have a 'disadvantaged student' award as opposed to 'i make all blacks seem like mental invalids by giving them their own separate award'
 
I love it. Good for her. Idiotic officials made to look like assclowns.
 
What goes around comes around. Sign me up for the Distinguished *Black* Student Award. If they'd stuck with black in the first place we wouldn't have problems like this.
 
It was a African american award, the kid is SOuth African. What'S wrong ? No matter if its a joke, its still valid.
 
What hell the school has a distinguished African American award? The award itself sound more condesending than anything. Regardless I think believed the term Africian American was coined to described people with African/Negro blood who are American. aka Black people in in American. So the White South African girl isn't isn't an African American in the racial/ethinic use of the word as the US Census Bureau uses it. And that what any official government agency or school is gonna go by.

I think it's funny as hell, and the Blacks in the area should be bitchin' about them having a seperate award just for them. It's segregation in pure form!

Nothing. I think legal immigration is fine. If you were born in the U.S. you are an AMERICAN. Not African American. Why do "minorities insist on self segregation in order to get special benefits and rights?

If you want to do away with prejudices, then those who hold them close to the heart need to let go first.

I am a minority too really. How many Swedish Americans do you know?
