The remake was definitely more badass, but the original was more disturbing imo. It's crazy how people automatically hate remakes and say they destroy the original, are stupid, etc. It's not like the original was replaced by it or anything; it's still it's own movie. What's wrong with updating a classic using better technology/advanced film techniques to make the movie more entertaining and watchable? They're both good, in different ways.

This is a tough one for me, but considering they're each their own movie, I'm going with the remake. I think emotional attachment clings people to original versions more than anything else. For many people a remake is automatically discredited. I say as long as it isn't butchered in any way by the cast/crew, it deserves a fair shot.

This is true. It was almost like they weren't even acting. The remake did a better job of presenting the story though.

However I think the best remake yet would be The Hills Have Eyes. I haven't even seen the original but it certainly didn't seem like a Hollywood movie. It had that gritty, independent type of film quality to it.

70's/80's low-budget horror movies were more ruthless and sadistic..it's much better than the newer sh1t.

Nothing will touch the feeling of the opening scene in the first one - (with the flickering black screen)

the remake to me wasn't even "creepy" (then again, they don't make "creepy" movies anymore)
