whey protein, does it expire...

I found a full case of whey protein, it has to be 8-9 years old, it was in an unopened box, 4- 5lb bottles w/ the plastic security ring, I know it has an expiration date, but this has been in the unopened box. What do yall think, bad?

I honestly have no idea what happens to whey, or if bacteria even eat it. I would assume so though.

LOL, I just HATE wasting things... I used to order the stuff 3-4 cases at the time and it got put behind some other clothes and stuff. It's not that expensive, I was just not wanting to throw it out. Thanks guys.....

if its in a closed container, without any moisture in it, then smell it, taste it and if it feels that its good then don't waste it.

It must turn bad soon after you have openned the container though. Like in a week or so.

Hydrolisates usually claim 2-3 year shelf life, but really its more like ONE YEAR.

I've always found even plain whey to be OK tasting..
Sort of sweet milk tasting.
This stuff probably has flavoring and maybe Nutrasweet etc in it.

If you are using a Protein concentrate with Egg, Soy or Casein, I could see
it tasting not as good, no matter how fresh.

You can get away with up too a 1 year past expire but 9 years ummm no.
