I now don't have a camera or camcorder. My house was robbed last week and they took all that stuff and jewelry, CC, checking accounts... everything of value really. They left the Goldfish.

I need to "rebuild". lol

I just bought a new Dell PC this morning. Still looking for the camcorder. Thanks for all the help everyone. Some good sites, even if i don't use them now, I saved them for future purchases.

Well it wasn't a fag that robbed you. Because if it were, the things of value would have been window treatments, picture frames, recessed lighting fixtures, and the top shelf vodka.

Shit. That sucks. You must feel violated. I hate that.

that sony you are looking at is a good camera. I agree, go with the mini dv over the dvd. I know you are trying to back up your equiptment with a sony, however there is a new cannon out that takes over 4 meg stills and video while that sony(which used to be the best mini dv) only takes 2.3 meg stills. If that is not a big deal to you that go with it. I thought I saw it(the sony) online last week for 650 since the new cannon has come out, I'll check.

After getting frustrated and looking at this camera you pointed out, I may just buy the Canon camcorder. It is a higher MP camera( the Sony is 2.7 or 2.8 btw) but this one is 4.+ and seems to be only slightly higher in price. It does'nt seem to be out yet according to Amazon.com. I'll check somewhere else for it though. Thanks a lot! I think I've changed my mind about the Sony. 4 MP should do just fine for a while considering it's in a camcorder!

I'd take either one at this point, but will try for the Canon. thanks again.

I'm pretty sure the cannon is out. I am in the market right now and have been doing a lot of research. I really liked the sony and it has great reviews but the cannon has all the same functions and ups the image quality for around the same price. At over 4 megs you shouldn't have to upgrade it for a while, or at least until someone rips you off again. Either way you are looking at top end mini dv. From here either you really lower your standards or go with a pro camera. Good luck with the choice.

Thanks sf! I bought the Canon today with some accessories it was about $1000. Not bad, I got a 1G memory card and an extra long life battery. Got it from Ebay. Coming in a couple of days.
