Where to stash your "personal items"

What do you think about this. If you get a storage unit in your name, and explain to the owners that you are going torough a nasty divorce with your wife who is out to get everything you own and a total bitch, very believable scenario :), and that if any law enforcement come and ask to open the storage locker do not let them until they contact you first and wait for you and your attorney to arrive at the scene.

Without a warrant, it would be pretty easy for a cop to flash a badge and say open number 114, but if you tell them what is going on, they will know not to consent.

Good idea?

I would think that many storage units have a form contract that provides for them to open the locker for LE. The fact that they retain a key to access your locker in your absence further diminishes your expectation of privacy in it. When the badges are flashed, I doubt the staff will care much about anyone's domestic problems, and will open the locker within the proverbial New York minute.

Never get a storage locker in your own name// Either do one of two things:

1) Get a fake ID and open the locker with that
2) Find a "patsy" (prefereably of low intelligence) and have him open a storage unit account for you, then give him some cash for his troubles and take the key

If they have a search warrant, they're gonna open the locker by force.

As for your "stash," wtf are we talking about here, counseling professional dealers? If you're a professional dealer with enough shit to stash in a storage unit, stop being a cheapskate and trying to get free advice on this forum.

Of course if they have a warrant it doesnt matter, but just like George says a discussion board should have a good attorney who does not give up more information than legally necessary, you dont want someone to get consent from the workers without a warrant.

By "stash" I meant anything illegal that you may want to keep away from your family for their consideration.

I love all the free advice you get from buying the book and being a platinum member too:) j/k

There's a problem with putting a low intelligence "patsy" in control of your most private possessions as a safeguard against government intrusion. He's likely to screw up. And if he gets caught, he will lead authorities directly to your door.

Everything that is not under your direct control is a threat to yourself as pointed out by Rick. I swear 3/4 of the people we see don't know what's a warrant. A badge is usually enough as they believe LEO have some kind of ultimate power on everyone...

True/ You really can only trust yourself when it comes down to protecting your gear// It's not just that people might rat you out, but some people are so ignorant that when it comes to the law, they might inadvertenly get you busted//
