Where is your god?

Well, captainawesome, what you did was express "faith" in the belief that science will someday explain all. But what donkeypunch has kind of shown is that science may lead you to where religion has already been.;)

Imaginary time? Hmmmm.....so maybe immortality is like stepping off the real time axis and onto only the imaginary one, thus one is no longer affected by the passage of real time? If so, does this make one no longer affected by physical laws either? Could this explain how "miracles" happened?

You are breathing aren't you?

God requires faith. If you have no faith, then you have no reason to believe in God. That's okay because I know he thinks your real, an asshole, but real.

I don't believe in god either. Guess I'm an asshole also... :( :bawling:

You know, it is funny that when someone asks a very pointed question and not a politically correct one at that such as Where is God? How amazingly incensed all the believers in God become. They do not even follow the teachings of their religions. Imagine the Jesus of the bible when he was asked where his God was while he was hanging from the cross after being nailed to it. Did he snap back and say you will be in hell or your a dick head or don't speak about that cause your a fool? Nope, when one of the criminals hanging out next to him asked him to forgive him he told him that today you will be in paradise with me. The other who did not repent was never once insulted or looked down upon by Jesus.

My point to the paraphrase above is that it seems that most of the religious people here are not all that religious and not as faithful as they would have us believe. Just read the posts.

As for God, my personal view and belief is that he/she does not exist. At one time I believed in God and had all the "faith" in the world. Then in February of 1991 he died for me. I came to realize through it all that a belief in God is nothing more than a security blanket to comfort us becuase we cannot explain the one thing that is inevitable for us all.

What happens when we die? We don't seem to be able to believe that we just cease to exist. I for one believe we don't, but that is not the point of this thread.

Science is always touted by the faithful as being wrong or not wholly complete except when it suits them to prove one of their beliefs, then science is all knowing and seeing. Take carbon dating for example. Most of the faithful would tell you that it is indisputably invalid for one reason or another. Yet, when the shroud of Turin was discovered, they quickly turned to carbon dating. Guess what, it returned the result that the shroud was at least as old as required to have possibly been Jesus's death shroud. And they took that and said see, Christ and God are real.

You know, no one has ever really disputed that Christ did exist. For some of us we just believe he was another man, no more no less and died for his belief in his "God"

There are many possible stories and scenario's that could easily explain the writings of the bible. Again, another topic.

Watch the movie Contact with Jodi Foster. While Carl Saagan may have been an ass, he quite equisitely covers the subject of faith. And in the end, without knowing about the proof of her journey, she was forced to believe that it did happen. And while she could not bring herself to say she believed it happened because of her "faith" in her convictions, she knew in her heart that is why she believed it happened.

Faith whether in science or in dieties, is just that. It is the strength of your convictions in your beliefs. And if they can be supported by equations and science great. If not, it is no less valid a belief.

So, while there is no God for me and never will be, I still have faith in the human race and its ability to evolve into something greater.

I guess you are a moron too then for believing in science. Not everything in science was proven except by faith. And it took a long time for the science to catch up to the "physicists faith"

Read the book "Darwins Black Box" The biochemical challange to evolution. If you are not big on reading then go to Amazon and buy "Unlocking the Mystery of Life." There is no way any logical person could be an Athiest or agnostic after knowing this. I'm not saying that you'll become a balls to the walls christian, muslum, or buddest, but you will believe in a creator.
