Where does all the garbage go ( from America, or anywhere for that matter...) ????

After numerous searches I've come up empty handed and still wondering, where does all of our trash go? I'm sure as a nation America has to produce the most amounts of garbage, but as I drive through my neighborhood I see no recycle bins....

Where does all the garbage go? God help me, I can find nothing on this subject !!

Landfills maybe?

Yes, probably, but I mean considering how long it takes for things to naturally deteriorate, what happens to it? We just keep piling it up in some landfill in Texas or something? I read a report once how we just dump it into the ocean??

We're still finding things that ancient people of the world left behind....Imagine Pepsi and Coke cans lining the walls of some museum 1,000 years from now :)

don't bring your shit to texas we will boot your ass right the hell on through to mexico

I think we also pay corrupt 3rd world governments to dump it in their countries. The huge landfill in my area is all underground. The garbage is all buried and they have these pipes coming out of the ground everywhere to vent and burn the methane so it doesn't turn into a huge underground bomb.

land fills plus they also have plants where they burn the trash at that is why a lot of places enforce the recycling rule

Land fills. They're all over the country. They're often burried over and made into gold courses and stuff.

And by the way recycling is a bunch of shit. It causes pollution; costs extra and produces inferior products and results. I know it sounds counterintuitive and wrong. It goes against all of what we are taught by the popular media, school and "environmental whackos" but it's true.

neocon-how true
Most goes to landfills, there are probably 40 within a 100 mile radius of were I live. Alot of old documents and paper are turned into roofing shingles...I only know this because I used to sell oil to these folks.

When I was in NJ, there was a huge incenerator burning all the "trash" collected in one area. The electricity generated was fed to the local area at bargin rates. The excess was sold and proceeds placed into the tax revenues. Local taxes were very, very low.

Over in NYC, the trash barges came down the Hudson towards some island fill and the ocean.

Where I'm at now, landfills are a big business. We accept trash from Canada at high fees. The fills produce 'gas". which is sold. These fills are eventally turned into ski resorts, golf courses and very expensive subdivisions with estates. Yes .... This is crazy!

Here in the USA we mostly use landfills. Euros probably incinerate much more than we do. You'd be surprised how much work goes into modern landfills. You have to have several layers of liners designed to trap the leachate (liquid waste). Garbage is a big business over here.

There is a reason we recycle. Organics will get buried and breakdown in a short amount of time. Where as inorganics, are recycled(hopefully) and turned into new products. Please recycle!!!!! :Chef: :tuc:

Based on her posts, I would guess between starfish's ears.

It's collected in New Jersey where it's then shot into the sun by a huge slingshot operated by Kurt Russell from the RoadHouse years. Where you been bro??

This is a great idea, and deltree, even though it does cost more to recycle, what makes you think the products are inferior? I've no clue.

However: I'm all for sending all the garbage of the world to the sun :)

yeah, I'm in New York and that's where we send all of our garbage.

Some of it seems to make it back over the bridge though.... :worried:

I'm in Philly, that's where we send ours.

I saw a shirt that read "Jersey girls aren't trash...trash gets picked up." Loved that shirt.
