Where can I get this info?

If looking to relocate to another state, where can I look for different information on population, crime, RE prices, income, schools, everything really needed to just pick up and leave to another location. From NJ btw. Not that it's important.

I'd just like to see what's out there I'm not planning anything yet, but there's no real way of doing it other than asking someone that lives there or whatever. The problem is, Idon't know where to look.

You move somewhere that "looks nice" and the crime rate is off the charts, or the schools suck, etc... by then it's too late after the move.

Some RE sites have a little info, but I'm looking for a bit more than that. Any suggestions?

Fishtales, I have no idea where I would want to go. That is really the problem. I will go wherever it is a good place to live. I have a very vague idea of where I want to go. Not even a specific state in mind. So I can't really p9npoint a place to find out about it. I want to go where it is known to be good/my criteria. That is the info I want to find first, the location of said place is secondary.


Thanks again for the replies. It was just something I was kicking around in my head. This is one of the obstacles that may prevent me from doing it.
