I've experienced the same phenomenon as Scotsman :

I've had a shitty day @ my job and I learned, 5 minutes from the weekend, than next week will be terrible

So, when I got in the gym I wanted
To kill someone
or
To lift heavy weights

Since I didn't want to have blood spots on my T shirt I opted for the 2nd solution and I had the best workout in weeks

I didn't even have to warm-up I was already hot as hell

Conclusion :
Thank your boss/colleague that piss you off all day long, they actually help you be stronger :)
 
Alot of us here also use the negativity in our lives to strengthen ourselves in the gym....works for me. Although sometimes I get a wee bit out of control....

very true, but i dont think it can get out of control...unless, you start throwing db's at people in the gym. then it might start to be little bit overboard...
