whats wrong with me???

in light of the bench press post and seeing some guys at the gym, i feel really weak now...

im 18yrs old, 5"10, 220lbs at 12%bf... Biceps are about 17" + a little...48" chest

im a big guy, but i am only hitting like 265 6 times... most guys on thAT post that are my size are hitting like 405 for 1, or 315 for 8...

Then this dude smaller than me in the gym hit like 365 4 times... I mean what the hell am i doing wrong??? ANy tips?

I'm 6'4 240 lbs and I can only get 315 for 1 or 2. I really dont care about the weight. I really care about how I look. Try working tris harder, do a lot of close grip bench and heavy french press( skull crushers). Also try doing reverse sets. After warming up with a few sets on flat, hit your heaviest weight first. The most you can do for 4-6 reps. For your next set, strip 10lbs off and do as many as you can. And for your 3rd and 4th repeat. Lowering the weight and repping to failure. You will need a spot for these sets. This gives your muscle first crack at the heaviest weights first. This will rip the fastest.

Like lawnsaver said... It`s all about what you look like.

I was obcessed with weights up to 2 years ago, when I really started focusing on muscle contact.. Needless to say I have really improved the way I look over the last 2 years...

Also, I think a lot of guys on this board are not completely honest when they say how much they lift.

Peace

i wouldn't worry about it bro. you shuld try to switch it up between using the bar and using dumbbells. changing you work out might help the weight go up. just a thought.

Don't worry about it.

I think some guys feel if they post a "small" bench weight, people will lose respect, or give them shit or what not.

I don't flat bench at all. My shoulder does not allow it. I do dumbell presses, and the heaviest I go on those on the 110's. I can incline 225 for about 8. Is that great? Nope.

But... my chest development is coming along just fine.

My brother weighs 40 lbs more than me... and can hit 315 6 times on any day he tries.

He's stronger than me in most exercises (besides ones for bi's and tri's, I got him there :D ) But I look a lot better than him. He's a bigger guy all around... but he really envies my build.

Just depends on what's important to you. For me... it's how I look with a shirt off... not how I look under the bar.

well i think its kinda like that how much money do you make a year thread awhile back in chat and conv. forum. everyone makes 300,000 a year and can bench 500lbs:D

Yeah, but _I_ really do. :D

There are training differences between bodybuilders and power lifters. If you're a bodybuilder then there really isn't any reason to worry about it. I am a little squirt compared to most of you guys but I'm making progress and that is what I like.

unfortunately my chest is my weekest part but I mainly stick to proper form rather than trying to put weight I know I would only be able to do 1 or 2 reps. Hell I'm only doing dumbell presses with 2 80lbs db's if that makes you feel any better. I'm also about 40lbs lighter but I don't let it get to me. Only the immature young punks will sit there and snicker at you. People that are really into BB will repect that you're there trying.

Just like the other guys here have said, its not about how much you lift but how you lift it. After years of "ego" lifting I finally realized it doesn't do anything but put you at risk for injury.

I'm not saying go light, but lift heavy enough so that you can still mainatin good form and range of motion without excessive cheating. Control the weights, don't let the weights control you.
