What's the most overtime you've worked?

74 hours one week
68 the following week
78 the third
67 the fourth
and followed by a wee 46
so 333 hours over 5 weeks
so 133 hours of ot in one run

I worked 3 months straight once. No days off & 12-14 hr days. but then I was a young apprentice, so I could afford to abuse myself like that.

I'm looking at 6 ten hour work days a week for the next month.

During residency and medical school, I routinely pulled 100-120 hour weeks.

When I was on a trauma rotation, I remember coming in at 3:30 am one Thursday morning, pre-rounding on my patients, going to conferences all morning long, in surgery all afternoon on my feet, on call that night working traumas galore and got absolutely no sleep, pre-rounding and rounding on patients the next morning, and being in surgery literally all day long.

At 6 pm Friday afternoon I nearly fell asleep in the OR!

At 8:30 pm Friday night I went home, and nearly fell asleep driving home.

I was awake for 41 hours straight. I went to sleep immediately upon getting home (my girlfriend said I didn't even say hello to her). I went to the bed, laid down without even removing the covers, and slept in my scrubs. I awakened Saturday at 4 pm.

This is exactly why there are now work hour restrictions on residents.

Everyone is different in what they value, and my time off is far more valuable than any double-time hourly rate.

On my days off, I just let the phone ring if it's work. Some morons I work with will work overtime almost every single day off they have. While they may pull in 6 digits, I'm far richer because of a healthier lifstyle---physically and mentally.

I felt like Mike, but had no choice.

12 hours on - 12 off, 7 days a week.
I was single and had so much $$ I'd forget to cash paychecks.
However, I had no life and hated it.

Lots of times you don't have a choice. It's either work or get a new job.

I once worked 14 hours (with 2x30 minutes break) back in my DJ years for 2 different clubs. Drugs and booze were very helpful.

Didnt read the responses but Ive taken call for hospitals 24/7 and a microwave beep going off freaked me out b/c you never feel like you are off work. Not worth it. Id like to walk around and drink a beer if I wanted or go somewhere in the car that I am not 30minutes from the hospital at most. They want you there in minutes.
Being on call for a couple weeks at a time its like no reason to change out of scrubs. I hate that shit, I really hate it. And its all psychological but I want to go home and no one from work should call me ever. A boundary

When I was a nurse aide, I worked 13 hr midnight shifts for 2 weeks straight to finance a vacation to Florida. I needed one BAD after that!

Waiting on Mountain Muscle I think he's the only one who might have a similar record to mine.

Cheers,
