Glutamic Acid , also known as Glutamate, is a non-essential amino acid found in proteins.
Glutamine is formed from Glutamic Acid by the addition of ammonia and Vitamin B6.
If you look on your jug of protein, you'll usually see Glutamic Acid in the list of the actual aminos.
The free form L-Glutamine is what we use as sort of an anti-catabolic agent. L-Glutamine neutrilizes cortisol that accomponies heavy exercise. Cortisol is highly catabolic so we want to get rid of it. The free form L-Glutamine also helps with recovery.
So, in a nutshell, you're going to get your Glutamic Acid in any protein that you take. You should also supplement with at least 10grams of the free form L-Glutamine.(i would tend to go higher, more like 20-30g).
Hope that helps!
