What's the best exercise for front delts??

My favorite would be the standard overhead press, either seated or standing. However I've switched to seated after hearing that you can injure your lower back easier in the standing version if your form slips.

wide grip militaries actually as the close grip gets a lot of help form tris.....do them after you have pre-fatigued them with front raises

parallel dips

u sure about that??? ive been doin weighted dips for the past 6 weeks and i noticed my lower chest getting rounder and a bit thicker... my military has gone up too form them, but, i dont think they are a really big mass builder since you use chest the most.

i think any kind of pressing like Miitary press to the front or back and DB military... I noticed when I switch to DB military and go back to BB military im a bit stronger...

also flat bench press and incline bench press hits my front delt harcore. this one huge, and i mean HUGE black guy at my gym is really strong and let me tell u what he does: youll die...

Monday

Flat bench press - 4x6-8, 4x1-4

Tricep pressdown - 5-6x12-20

DB curls - 5x10-12

Thusrday

Flat bench press - 10x15

Hammer row - 5x10-12

Tricep press down - 5xs10-12
----------------------------------------------
hes donw in like, 1 hr, his legs are twigs, but fuck, he can bench 495+ and his front delts a bowling balls, 21 in arms, 58 in chest... im not lying, we took a measuring tape to him... hes about 5'6-5'7 230... but.. twice a week, and guess how old he is........................FIFTY-TWO

i jsut thought id say that cuz ive never seen him do military once and his chest is sooo thick.. he is THICK.. like.. an OAK tree.. haha, prolly genetics but.....

not at all, dont be a hater, i think its cuz hes old and has been working out for like 35 years..

52 years old, 5'6" at 230 with no lower body and you don't think so? I don't care how long you've been working out. If someone has been working out 35 years they're probably bound to use gear somewhere along the line. I mean how far do you think your genetics will take you?

dude, hes a cop, why would he risk getting fired??? and throwin in jail... plus i dont think hes that smart as to pass a piss test if he was on something... come on now

pretty much all pressing movements will involve the front delts.

That's what I was gonna say. Flat bench, Incline bench, and military press all hit mine very well.

1. Do you have any idea how many cops juice? There have even been a few threads on this topic alone.

2. Standard UAs don't test for steroids. You need a specific test done for them.

two words....

RONNIE COLEMAN

:)

why wont you accept that hes a genetic freek... Look at B-fold, he a monster, and i assume hes clean.. some people jsut gain muscle and strenght easier, no doubt.. while some struggle and some gain at a normal pace... i truely think hes a freek... plus, i think he'd admit if he was, hes a pretty nice and honest guy, ive known him for 4 years and he has 2 sons that workout with him one son is 16 and can benchpress 315 the other is about 22-23 and can benchpress 385.. they all do the exact same program...its just them black genes:) which is good

Yup Ronnie Coleman = Police Officer

And my 2 points still stand anyway.

Diana Bol ;)

Ok, that's one word...LOL.

Ronnie is geared up like a mug. Other cops are, too.

Now, it's entirely possible your buddy is simply a genetic freak...I mean, Jesus, I'm 5'6", 235.

But I'm only 25 (and a week), have been lifting 10-11 years to your buddy's 35, and I am way fatter right now than I want to be, with a 36" waist and 16.5% bodyfat. And I don't have crappy wheels.

So someone who's been at it far longer could conceivably do it naturally without all that much trouble, but you have to KIM, if he's been at it for that long, for most of his lifting career, steroids were not, I repeat not, illegal!

58" chest...mein Gott. That's crazy. Are you sure you measured it right? :) The biggest my chest has ever been was 52", when I weighed 254, on a cycle, and way fatter than I am now.

21" arms on a guy that's 5'6" are pretty damn incredible, too. Mine have only recently gotten back to 18.25" or so. And to think I was happy with that...D'oH!!!!!

As far as this topic is concerned, three words:

INCLINE BENCH PRESS.

I like militaries, though MRIs show DB presses hit the anterior delts hardest. But inclines hit them even harder...you're at a decent angle to cream your shoulders, and you can move a lot of weight--more than you can overhead press.

yes im sure, it was almost the whole tape measure, all 60 in of it
i dont understand, i jsut watch in awe

Mind-boggling. That's significantly bigger than a lot of pros' chest measurements.

i thought the pros were in the 60+, well, dude, if u seen this guy, youd freak out... i still do

Yeah, that's just it. I seem to feel it in my triceps more than anything usually(the militaries that is).

Gonna try front raises again maybe lighter weight this time, I always get pain in my shoulders when I do this.

military wide grip arms behind the bar... hits the front delt harcore:) ditch front raises, no power there...

I'm sure I would. He sounds pretty impressive, even if his wheels are a bit deficient :)

But nah...most pros aren't anywhere near that. Haney often said his chest was no more than 55". Mentzer told me that Frank Zane had a 45" chest and 16.75" arms at his prime. And Arthur Jones personally measured Sergio Oliva's chest at 52" (this was at a very lean bodyweight).

Jones also said that Sergio was the only bodybuilder he'd personally measured that had a geniune, relaxed differential of 20" between his chest and waist. There are guys who have probably exceded that and then some, but most pros flat-out lie about all measurements.

Tape measures also shrink over time. For the most accurate measurements, Jones used to cut himself a new tape for every measurement he took!

Of course, Art could be a little nutty, but he had no reason to lie. I tend to trust his figures more than I do a guy talking about his own biceps, for instance (though of course guys today ARE way bigger than they were in the early 70s).

tru, the guys isnt ripped, i mean, he has meat on him, so...
BTW, i noticed yesterday, his ribcage is extremely wide for his height, and i think hes more around 5'8, i misjudged... that is a reason too

i know alot of people who have been working out for years and have never used AS. it's called living a healthy lifestyle. don't assume people juice because they love to lift bro.

Its very possible that he's a super genetic freak. Very possible, especially lifting big weights like that. your boy DC says jokingly that he thinks Paul Dillet could get big "mowing the lawn." Freaks like that are out there.

All the more reason to make sure you keep your back (core) strong along with the rest of you.

I agree. I try to do things standing as much as possible. It's good for your stabilizers. :)

*Falls over after doing a set of incline DB curls, unable to stabilize myself on my own feet*

One exercise that no one has mentioned is the Arnold press, one other real front delt burner is something I saw Chris Duffy do on the old Flex magazine show. He does front raises underhand, start with the dumbells close to your body, and as you raise your arms let them flare apart raising the weight to head level........the burn from this is amazing!!!

They're a good one.

I've seen MRIs published in "Ironman" that claim regular DB presses engage the front delts even more than Arnold Presses, but the difference was pretty insignficant.
