I'm a board lurkernot really a poster but...I was reading throught the stickys and came across a link for the bear - a combination of movements in one (clean, front squat, press, back squat, press is 1 rep)

does anyone use this and if so how do you work it in?

my current workout (hst 15, 10, 5 except squat and front squat which is 25, 15, 10 - I have back probelms and to get good form with no pain i need lighter weight)

A/B

squat
sdsl
flat bench
db shoulder press
bent row
bi/tri

front squat
deadlift
bbell shoulder press
dips
chins

I was looking b/c i want to replace bbell shoulder press with clean and press but now i'm interested in the bear. any comments on it or ideas of how best to work into my routine? thanks

I would assume you start off with a clean then go into a front squat then you press the weight bringing it down onto your shoulders for a back squat.

I have tried it before, and it's a lot tougher than it sounds. Just give it a try and see what you think. Use LIGHT weights or you won't be able to go for very long. Hell, maybe just the bar until you get the hang of it.

iv seen athletes using it (such as wrestlers and rugy players) i think its more of a conditioning type thing, like 300 workoutish, than a real bodybuilding or powerlifting training excersises

I would use the "bear" or other complexes on a nontrainig day as a form of cardio. It will really improve your conditioning and endurance. Check out this article for some more good complexes and their uses.

you've got that right - it's a form of conditioning
