I think women should be educated and do some seriously intensive screening on the dl for any potential step dad. Knowing the warning signs of what could be big problems (ie watch how he looks at/acts around the kid, especially when he thinks he's alone with them) later is priceless when it involves a kid's life. I've personally known of a couple stepdads who've molested/raped "their" kids... then they have to struggle with what happened to them their whole lives.

This kinda shit taints everything for the guys who would make good stepdads and who actually give a damn about the woman they're with and any kids involved.

I hope that guy's alright. No one deserves to go through anything like that, and actually it's probably a major cause of why a lot of people turn out to be sick in the head. They didn't exactly get that way themselves.

My dad and I are best of friends. He's made an assload of mistakes in his life but that's what has defined who he is now. I've had to watch him live in complete misery and guilt for the past 25 years of my life because he married a woman who was capable of molesting her own offspring. Yes, my biological mother molested me. I'm not really sure what the appropriate reaction is to something like this. I'm not sure how I would view my dad had he killed her after finding this out. Can't see how that would've made him any better/worse than her. Life deals you some shitty hands sometimes...it's your choice to make the most of it...or let it break you.

Forgiveness is overrated sometimes. For my own wellbeing and emotional health, I've decided to not have animosity/grudge/vengence toward my mother. But I'll never forget. I like to think of it as "food for growth". And look at how superbolous i turned out.

see this is what i am talking about. i was curious as to why some people do that (act like nothing happened and continue dating or being friends with some one who hurt their kids)....I know i wouldnt risk life with my kids by killing some one but i would let the justice system handle it and that person would be out of my life for good........some people actually go back to the person which i think is crazy...seeing this guy on oprah he was clearly affected by what has happened to him i felt bad for him. And i felt bad for his mother as there were no signs to indecate that he was doing any thing to her son. she felt guilty as she worked 2 jobs, when he cried out for help by failing grades and getting into trouble she said she would whoop him and that she regrets and feels guilty for not knowing.I cannot imagine how any parent feels knowing that their child went through this ordeal. I hope and i pray that I will never have that experience!

I've been there. And I stood next to the guy in a courthouse bathroom with a knife in my hand. I decided that my daughter would be better served by having me beside her, than have me spend the next 15 yrs in jail. He didn't recognize me. He was the grandfather of my daughter's friends, who he had traumatized worse. They brought the charges.
His children haven't talked to him in 4 yrs, except through a lawyer. I've seen him a few times. He falls down a lot.
