What would you do if...

oh jeez...you?? if so, that sucks! you didn't like it there anyway, right?? get the hell out of there...go back home...look to the south...start over.

be pissed off then move back to michigan because michigan is way better,oh and fuck, that will make you feel better.

I can't go back to MI... As a failure. My job is filled my classes at the gym are taken... They've given me to options: 2 wks pay and cover moving expenses or a check for a months pay (about 6k) less taxes.

I think I'm going to try and stay... There are more jobs here and I teach for the Gold's gyms in the area...

I'm the one that asked for a meeting because I wasn't happy filling in on support and just wanted a chat - apparently that was a bad move.

then I suggest sugardaddy.com, have some chump look after ya and just teach at golds for fun. there ya have it

Sorry to hear that.

I'd do a nation-wide job search first and then move to the area I want.

Plus, you'll need to do some work on your resume.

1) Negotiate a letter from your current employer. Tell them you'll sign a full release in exchange for a letter stating that you left as an employee in good standing.

2) Find at least one, if not two people who can serve as personal references from your current employer.

Right now, companies favor hiring people who already have jobs. But if you've only been recently unemployed, have a letter from your latest employer saying it wasn't your fault and have a couple of personal references from that employer you should be in better shape.

Good luck!

And if you do a nation-wide search, blame your current departure on the weather.

Tell them it was just too gloomy. You thought you could truly live anywhere after spending so much time in Michigan, but as it turns out you thought wrong. But never blame the people. Tell them how wonderful the people and the job opportunity was, but you just couldn't see yourself living in that weather for the next 20 years. And knowing that, it wouldn't be fair to the employer or to you since they'd need to make investments in you over time.

I would be super angry and hope I stayed in check.

Good side would want to glean all benefits possible from the experience (positive references, experience for resume,cv etc)

Bad side would want to flip desks and break stuff lol...hope I would not do that.

If it was not long after the move Bad Side would be more likely, but hopefully not.

It's been five months...

Why did they let you go? When we moved our operation from MD to WI, my admin assistant moved too but I ended up having to fire him 2 months later. Sucked for him I guess

This is the right answer - you have to kill WA first - can't let it have the final word . On your terms!!!

Well it all comes down to why you would stay in that city, do you want to stay because you like it?do you want to stay because you dont know where else to go? or do you want to stay because you feel you need to prove something to yourself?

I've really started to get acclimated here. I love being involved with Gold's and I'm already signed up for and paid for a training for another class I would be teaching which is over by Spokane in two weeks.

Yes I feel I need to prove myself.

Job market is better here than MI.

I have no place to live in MI.

I'm past the sad part I just need to see if I can get something rolling with a job soon and if I can't... Well at least I have my car... Road trip it home if it comes down to it.

Seems like it is growing on you being there. You were about to complain to them and they let you go probably means they could tell it wasn't working out for them. I am sure you will find something else though, good luck.

Yeah - I had already waffled about not being happy and was trying to make a good show of it; I suppose their approach is to get the right people in place as effectively and quickly as possible... I don't blame them for that. I don't like admitting that I wasn't the right fit, but I took a chance to pursue something that was quite a bit different than my background... and well, at least I won't look back wondering.

It's all part of a plan ;)

I was mowing the lawn lit up like a christmas tree and ruined a good garden hose

I'll repeat my advice
don't pay for expensive KY lube
go to Lowe's and buy like a gallon of what's known to electricians as "wire lube"
same stuff as KY
6 USD for a gallon

might want to buy a canister of the "real stuff" with a screw off top
and fill that with your Lowe's find
you know what I'm sayin'

Rachel is so hot

I have a 2nd interview today - first one was Friday afternoon and it was more than 2 hours... and I hardly spoke. I just listened to the guy talk about football and randomness. This position is similar to what I did in Michigan - about the same $$ as in Michigan; substantially less than the salary I moved here for, but at this point I can't be too picky. Today I meet with 3 other team members...

Aside from that have been spending some solid time in the gym and got a certification to teach another class at the gym - it's a 30 min core training class called CXWORX.

What line of work are you in?

in no time we'll be fighting over the remote
but I hid it under one of my ass cheeks

So, did you get the job?

I was there for 2+ hours again, met with what would be my boss again ... he spent about 45 minutes showing me the 'fitness center' not sure if he thought I would actually work out there and that would help sell me on the job. Then I spent some time with each of the three sales managers. Each was the same, "you're overqualified but you obviously have things you can bring to the team and Mark is excited about you so I'll give you my vote".

Apparently there were 2 internal candidates he needed to interview out of courtesy, though he flat out told me he didn't want anybody internal and the other external resumes are garbage... I feel confident that they're going to make an offer, but I didn't hear anything yesterday.

Better make that follow up phone call if you don't hear from them by the end of the day. Some lazy ass in HR may just promote internally if you don't stay in their faces.

I called and left him a voicemail toward the end of the day. He sent me an email about 5:30 that says:

"Rachel,

I’m working through the internal interviews/process and should be able to provide an update for you by the end of the week. Feedback from my Sales Mangers was very positive."

Fingers crossed please!

Good luck. I'd recommend hitting him up on Friday afternoon, just so your on his mind before the weekend.

Oops, too late I went with the earrings.

When going for job interviews the smaller the accessories the better stud earings or small/medium hops something that is there but not noticable.

It's really not that big a deal just for a more conservative enviroment it's good to keep in mind. If you interviewed with a man her probably didn't even notice the earings. LOL

I hope it went well hun.

That generally is my style - I don't wear much jewelry as it is, but this was my second interview with him and already knew a little sexiness would be a good move.

An interview scheduled with a different company on Monday...

Seems like Rachels life is always in a state of high expectations followed by crushing dissappointment.

This was interview outfit number 1 - Michael Kors dress - originally $200, but bought for $40 at good old Nordstrom's Rack.

Looking good Rachel!

Love Nordstrom Rack! Great deals there.

Good luck on the interviews and I hope you get the job you want.

Look great as always, R. I hope you get the job. I'm surprised that more people don't travel to Seattle and say hi.
