lately, iv been concentrating on upper chest, doing 3 sets of six on incline barbell, then hitting flat chest barbell....on incline, i hit 185, 205, then 225 all for 5-6...on flat, il do sets of five up to 255/265...today, i started with incline dumbells(no benchs available, and didnt feel like waiting)...i hit 80 for 10 90 for ten and 100 for 8...pretty consistent with what i was doing on dumbells a month ago...then i hopped to flat bench, and 135 felt like 225...i hit 225 for 4, and normally id be able to hit for 10...all my lifts following inclines were down...and i felt good! i got a good pump overall, but what do you think led to this? just a new movement i wasnt used to?

The incline DBs must've hit you harder than you realized, especially your front delts.

Is it also possible you were rushing yourself a little? Sometimes when I work out w/out my training partner, I unwittingly don't rest near as long as normal.

I only ask because that'd limit your strength, too, of course. It'd also be consistent with the excellent pump you experienced.

How are you feeling? Is everything going up consistently otherwise? You might be overtrained; when I am, my strength markedly drops off if I don't back off.

It could be a combination of everything above, but I wouldn't sweat it. You might bench or BB incline "fresh" to see if your strength holds...then you'll know it's simply a matter of those DBs takin' it out of you. The only thing to do after that is to maybe rest a bit longer if you hit DB inclines first.
