What was your favorite car that you have owned?

Kind of a toss-up for me. I've still got my first car, a 1978 Olds 442 that I'm going to do something with one of these days.

My 96 Impala is a lot of fun too, but it's probably going away this week. Seems I have a hole in my radiator, and it'd be $700 to fix. After just spending $400 last month, I think I'm done with it. Trying to talk to the dealer about a trade in today.

go to the junkyard.. and get a new radiator... it will take you about 40minutes to put it in.... EASY!!!! and will cost you no more than $300

It's a little more complicated than that. First of all, have you ever TRIED to get parts for a 96 Impala from a junkyard? I have. As a matter of fact, just got a mirror, and it came from out of state. I'm fully aware that parts from a junkyard are cheaper, but they're not readily available, and I'm not going to dick with shipping a fucking radiator in from out of state.

Retail on the new part is $500, the shop would sell it to me for $450, plus labor. The closest new one they found is in St. Louis.

my advice to you is to get up off it and look at what you buy.. if you cannot fix it... why own it?

a 93 bmw converitable in a soft blue-green color with gray leather interior. it was a 325i i think.i only had that for a couple of months. (remember i am only 17, so it's not like i 've had lots of cars only 4)

I didn't even get my license until I was 22. or maybe 23 - hell, I don't remember.

Then you're in a better part of the country for parts than I am. Lucky for you.

When I was a kid, had more time, and less money, yeah, I fixed my car. Now I pay someone else to do it. Sue me.

My mechanic had previously expressed interest in the car, and he passed on it. Guess he doesn't want to put $200 and make $3000 more.

Anyway, my point is this: I'm TIRED of dicking with this car. I've had it in the shop regularly for one thing or another multiple times over the past several months. The radiator's just the straw that broke the camel's back.

I don't work on my cars anymore, and don't intend to. Not my bag. Don't enjoy it. Doesn't make me lazy or stupid, I just opt to spend money and let someone else hassle with it. It's not worth my time and aggravation, bottom line.

I'm buying something new, with a warranty, and then the hassle's over with.

Seriously, if I could sell the car to a private party right now, I would. But it's a hell of a lot harder to unload damaged goods than something that runs well.

I've checked the ads, and in good running condition, I could get $13K to $15K out of the car. Dealer's gonna give me a lot less than that, but I'm ready to be done with the whole mess.

I bought the car 4 years ago, it was rebuilt after a wreck, and it's been great for about 3 1/2 of those years. The past 6 months have been a bitch.

Still, it was a hell of a lot of fun to drive. I'll miss it.
