Can't go wrong with whey isolate, anytime of day. But is best after workout and right before bed. To stay lean try using labrada
low carb meal replacement shakes before bed, because it has fast and slow releasing proteins.
whey is not best just before bed as it is fast absorbing protein, when you wake up is good, just befreo bed you want a slow digesting protein eg casien protein, in lots of dairy products, cottage cheese being on of the best.
erm, whey protein should be taken pre and post training since it is absorbed so fast, at other times you want something more slow absorbing, a protein blend, preferably with Miscellar Casein which is known to line the gut and distributed nutrients slowly into the system.
