alright, i was stupid and fucked up my knee squatting like 2 weeks ago. i wasnt warmed up right, and was probably doing them wrong- going too deep.

so i have babied my knee and it just seemed to get worse. plus the other knee started acting up from all the pampering the right knee was getting. sometimes i just wish those two would grow up....

i finally did some squats yesterday, front squats to be exact. only went up to 95 pounds, and did a 3x8. today my knee is feeling great!! my quad is sore as shit though. i am thinking that it was the inner, lower quad that got tore, and it was giving my knee pain. i can walk straight again!

Keep us updated......If it bothers you again maybe we can help. Make sure to ice it after you train it though. just to be safe.

yeah if i do them with a wide stance they fuck up my knees, if i do a shoulder width stance they actually strengthen them i believe

Strengthening the VMO - the teardrop shape muscle, is what helps knee stability, that's what frontsquats hits :)

also stepups and bulgarian splitsquats hit em nicely too

It has happened to me a few times that I have been slightly injured and then after laying off I went back for light workout and after the workout I was much better. Strange but who knows why this shit happens?
I just actually kinda hurt my chest 2 weeks ago (out of nowehere after two days rest I felt burning sensation in my right pec and cold feeling in chest while driving) so I laid of chest exersizes for about 10 days. When I finally did the chest again I felt much better the next day, but then the pain returned a day or two later so I am now laying of chest completely.

A lot of guys squat "Ass to Grass" or "Ass to Heels" so It's not going too deep that causes the problem; it's improper form and or having weak hips.. Weak hips will cause your knees to turn in while squating putting too much stress on the joint. Proper form and strengthening of your core will usually fix any knee pain that you're having while squating.

Exactly.

The only thing I can add to this is to concentrate on pushing off the heels, not the toes. That's a common form mistake that contributes to knee problems.

What can you do to strengthen hips? I noticed my knees do turn in a bit when I go heavy squats, leg press too sometimes.

Heavy Pull throughs, Glute Ham Raises, Dead lifting, Good mornings..

Personaly, I do pullthroughs at the end of every ME workout and GHR at the end of every DE workout (for you body builder guys that is I do them each once a week.

I would add in three or four sets of 5 (Pullthroughs) to the end of every leg workout if I were you, and add in 3 sets of Glute Ham Raises right after.

After a few weeks you will notice a difference... Don't cheat..and don't neglect them.

what do you do pullthroughs on/with? I always feel like a huge douche bag doing them with the tricep extension rope on a machine...
