What Temps are You Dudes With Crotch Rockets Running?

yes curl, er, gsx, err, whatever....your bike does have a wet clutch. very few crotch rockets have a dry clutch. Ducatis, moto-Guzzis, and i believe Aprilias and BMWs all have dry clutches. easiest way to tell....listen to how the bike sounds with the clutch out while sitting at an idle. dry clutch will make a "jingling change" sound. but your bike does indeed have a wet clutch. and from what i know, you can use synthetic oils with wet clutches, but i have always stuck to regular dino oil.

as far as how fast have i had a bike...

my 99 CBR600F4 has shown an indicated 170mph on about a dozen occasions. that, however, is not accurate. the actual top speed is about 156mph. you get a lot of speedo error on most sport bikes once you get over 120mph, if not sooner.

the fastest any bone stock sport bike will go is 186mph. they are governed at that speed. the japanese manufacturers did this on their own before the US DOT stepped in and did something about the excessive speed that these bikes are capable of.

156mph was fast e-fuckin-nuff for me. at that speed, if you're still able to think clearly, you're shitting bricks with the thoughts of "if something runs out in front of me, i'm dead...." but you still don't back off one bit :D
 
When your fan comes on, wait 5 minutes and then check the torque ratio. If the Torque Ratio >2.492 then you are ok. Unless of course you are running a filtered intake value, then the torque should be no more than >1.217. If it is, then you should (suggesting get a mechanic who has a diagonstic machine, rather than guessing at it yourself) have the timing of the fuel compressor checked. That can cause an elevated temp too.
