i'm not a doc but i've tried to figure out what kind of common drugs should be avoided in combination with orals, knowing how liver toxic they can be. here's what i came up with:
- Tylenol (Acetaminophen). Bad, bad, bad. Here's what WebMD says: "Tylenol is so toxic at high doses that a new study indicates that acetaminophen overdose has become the leading cause of sudden liver failure." Yikes. The worst part is that tylenol is in so many other drugs (like NyQuil) that you might not know that you're taking it, or too much of it.
- Alcohol (duh). NyQuil will give you a nice shot of booze too. Double whammy.
- Ma-Huang (ephedrine). I had no idea that ephedrine was liver toxic... Whops.
- Ecstasy, cocaine, heroin
If anyone knows of any other drugs that are liver toxic, add to the list.
I'm sure as hell taking my Milk Thistle...
