If I turn a horizontal a/c unit vertical. I know it could break but what is the likely hood od that happening?

Vertica a/c $459

Horirzontal $139

the worst that could happen is it probably won't work (they use water among other things to cool the air that i assume needs to be in a certain position for it to function properly).

So the worst is, the waste 139 bucks.

There should be a drain plug on the bottom of your ac unit to drain the excess water from condensation. You could try to turn the unit vertical and drill a drain hole on the bottom side.

I had a hot gf once who went down on me
it was early in the relationship(I think day3) and I was sweated up quite well
she did some giggling and licking and sniffing
and then said
"I could live down here"

You can't turn it that way, SuperQT. I asked my fiance who has a heat and air conditioning business, and he said that you can't do it. He went into a rant about oil in the motor, etc. Long story short, he said don't do it.

Lestat I just took my first of many showers for the night my pussy don't smell.

I still might kill someone if this a/c issue is not worked out.

in college, in my dorm, I ran an a/c without putting it in a window. Just stuck a fan behind it. It was really ghetto, but it worked for me!

lol! im surprised that worked since you usually have to "vent" the warm air to the outsidel.

They make floor models now. . .on wheels. . .a little more expensive but, they work great. . .just need someplace to vent the water hose.

Your igloo could melt, but on the bright side then the ac unit would fit right. ;)

Why do you need an ac unit in an igloo anyway? :verygood:

I was thinking proping the a/c unit on the window ciel with the screen open I dunno how to get the screen or other pain of glass out but I would need to to fit the ac unit in there properly.

just remember your work has a/c im outside in mississauga all day busting my nuts moving concreate in wheel barrows and posts

I go outside and work in the cemetery when I want to improve my healthy tan

There is oil in your A/C unit, to lubricate the compressor. If it's not situated right, it won't circulate & blow the pump. How about buying the horizontal unit, mounting it in front of the open part of your window to vent the hot air out. May not be optimum, but it should work.

I was thinking of that as well. For all helpful people  you are off my list for the not so helpful people you are at the top of my list

like the otehr guys said, your compressor will shit its pants if you try to run it horizontally.

something you could do is make a shroud.

mount the cheap unit inside the apartment ie take out or simple open the window, mount the aircon inside on a bracket or sit it on a box (anything, just to hold it in position) and then use thick plastic sheet/concretors plastic/ply to make a shroud, the purpose of which is to funnel ALL of the hot air from the back of the aircon into the outside air

youll also have to run a hose from the drain to the outside, otherwise itll drip inside your unit, wetting your pile of messy dvds and making a dripping noise

have fun :)

Just as long as I'm at the top of the list I'm a happy camper. ;)

Now let me turn up that AC, it's getting a little cold in here. :cold:

Not optimum...but this should work okay. =-)

i'm picturing you getting bent over on that bed right now

put the horizontal in, and measure off the area of the window left, go to whatever canuck home depot :p they have and get a piece of plywood (thin) and fill the gap. its ghetto, but who cares, its cool in your room right? i have the same ghetto setup. heheh.

QT....damn, I told you last summer...and I'm going to repeat myself now: stop being SO DAMN CHEAP!!!! It's going to be hot, humid, and miserable for the majority of the next four months....it is WORTH spending the 400-500 bucks to get the RIGHT air conditioner for your room. Not in the budget right now? CHARGE IT!!! You can have it payed off in a couple of months. That window looks small...be sure to measure it carefully before getting that vert. unit. You might have to go with a portable (I have one, it works GREAT...worth every penny!!!).
