There should be a drain plug on the bottom of your ac unit to drain the excess water from condensation. You could try to turn the unit vertical and drill a drain hole on the bottom side.

It's going to be hot, humid, and miserable for the majority of the next four months....it is WORTH spending the 400-500 bucks to get the RIGHT air conditioner for your room. Not in the budget right now? CHARGE IT!!! You can have it payed off in a couple of months. That window looks small...be sure to measure it carefully before getting that vert. unit. You might have to go with a portable (I have one, it works GREAT...worth every penny!!!).
