What is the optimal Workouts per week?

I try to workout 3 times a week but sometimes only get two workouts in. I really do agree with doing anything more than 3.

What have others seen in their workouts... being have they seen maximum results with a certain number of times per week?

I depends on your goals, body type, amount of time training, type of training.

If you are training quite heavy and hard, full body work-out, then twice a week may be appropriate.

If you are doing splits, 4-6 times a week may work depending on the splits (I have had a 6 day split, right now it is 4 or 5)

It also depends on how many exercises you are doing per bodypart.

Many factors, nothing is written in stone, there are a few great general guidelines though.

I work each body part out once a week -- doesnt mean the dont get hit indirectly on other days though -- What matters is that your muscles have time to rest and rebuild.

What's most important is that you don't exercise any muscle group before it has fully recovered. If you do, then eventually you'll end up with injuries and your progress will slow down.

It will take intelligent training to work out when your shoulder and elbow joints are ready to be hit again as these are used in every upper body workout and the most often injured in bodybuilding. Of course the same is true of the lower back and knees but it's easier to stay away from leg work on your other split days.

It's better to undertrain than overtrain. Your recovery will be different to another persons depending on your health, supplementation and of course your age. You'll have to experiment taking into consideration the above guidelines.

Couldn't say it any better myself.
