What is the best martial art to take strictly too

I would be incline to first have a love for the art. The best defense (in my opinion) is when no one gets hurt. Develop the art of strategy and you will
always win. Find the art that alows you to not only allow you to develop speed and endurance, but how to conserve and think.

BJJ is not all on the ground, depending on the instructor, some do teach stand up, and yea, you may know how to not get taken down, but realize the opponent knows this too, and will find ways to take you down, its a chess match, every style has pros and cons, KNOWING the pros and cons and how to take advantage of them wins fights. If skill is equal, then the best srongest mind wins. It is about control and I agree to be real well off you need to study stand up and groundwork both extensively. remember Hoyler Gracie, he fought many kickboxers and stand up fighters who trained forever how not to get taken down, and know what??? he was 401 and 0, (Wins Vs. Losses). He ahd a stronger mind. Also his fights were one on one, don't take a fight to the ground if it is not 1 on 1... Bad Idea, But i love BJJ, fixing to start Kickboxing

thats why we have mma , the best are boxing kickboxing, ji jitsu, and wresleting. you should train all three and train the most on the one you like better or have better coaching

Enhance your fighting abilities? Like how actual street fights occur and the best martial art to take to learn how to fight, which will 99% of the time end on the ground in a wrestling match.

A buddy wants to take karate which is pretty lame in my opinion, waste of time when it comes down to it. I told him to take something like judo or Jiu-jitsu because of the grappling, what do you think?

Anything that trains as you would fight on the street.

forget the uniforms and barefoot crap.
train in the clothes you wear and the shoes you wear. taking up something along the lines of Krav Maga or CQC (close quater combat) is what you need.
why train for years trying to get the knock out punches, when a throat knifehand drops anyone? think smart, not hard.

doesnt look pretty, but you smash the opponent into a hospital bed, and being a winner doesnt involve tit for tat combos. fight first and dont stop till its done.

CQC all the way. i have trained Muay thai, kickboxing, kempo, and i found CQC took the lead. nothing wrong with the rest, but the elite military dont use boxing to kill, or kung-fu, they use the dirty tricks that win.

Ive done Krav,Thai and kickboxing for 5 years, vale tudo for 2 years.. this combo is fantastic for me, all goes together well! im very confident at kickin arse, might be a different matter when i start fightin matches next year though!

almost all street fights end up on the ground with one guy mounted or half guard and one covering up

if i knock em down, i walk.
most i have seen get knocked on their ass then head stomped.
when they did both go to ground, the mob rule initiated and it became a riot as friend defended friend....

If you use the brain first, (not pride and stupidity) you should win without muscle.

This is honestly a pretty silly question , but its Understandable why everyone asks it . But nevertheless , its the WRONG QUESTION !

The REAL question should be "Does Anyone Know A Great Teacher Near Me ???"

Styles dont teach you how to Fight . Great Teachers , Coaches and Trainers do .

I'd say to go with Muay Thai if you choose only one. Reason being that you get to learn punching and using elbows when the opponent comes near you at close distance. They also learn some grappling tequnikes. Shure you could use kicks, but in a dirty streetfight they throw off your balance. And if the fight goes to the ground, you stil have some grappling from Muay Thai. Or you could take a page out of chuck lidelle's book and just stand up.
