What is POF training?

and give me an example of the workout.

This forum gets more traffic than the training board.

Possitions of flexion was designed by Steve Holman (writer for Ironman magazine). He believes that for optimal growth you should hit eat position of fexion for a muscle group in a given workout. Those positions being stretch, mid-range and contraction. An example for triceps would be behind the head extentions with a dumbell or cambered bar for stretch. Weighted dips or close-grip presses for midrange and dumbell kickbacks for contracted. He posts workouts every month in that magazine.

Wow, it really sounds stupid.

Oh. I never read Ironman. Are there any examples of his workouts for chest, hamstrings and quads on the net anywhere? I want to try something new for a couple of months.

Whoa, nothing wrong with trying something new, but how about something that actually makes sense, aap? How bout some plyo, some powerbodybuilding, kettlebells, static contractions, that kind of stuff?

What's all that stuff?

Plyometrics are when you use your bodyweight for resistance for exercises, more or less. Powebodybuilding is when you increase both size and strength substantially, not just one or the other. Kettlebells are iron "balls" with handles; when you use them for weight, their weird shape and balance force you to work your muscles in an entirely new way. Static contraction is basically maximizing weight while minimizing your hold times.

But what do I know? I'm only 175 lbs.

Positions of flexation, or some stupid crap like that. I'm fairly sure I've seen ads for it in Ironman (when I'm reading it like a cheap bastard at the book store for free). It could have been MD, who knows. It seems really silly, and not worth the time, but who knows, it might be great for you. But I think whatever you are doing right now, is working just fine. :)

i do my workouts with free weights
cabled weights and resisitance bands
tai chi in the morning and my kata done isometrically in the pm's
i believe the definition i am gaining is similiar to the supposed effects of his ideas

The book and videos for Positions of Flexion are called 'Critical Mass'. They are for sale on the Ironman site and cheap copies on Ebay.
