it's when you're awake and stuff
Doesn't your brain carry out the same functions when you receive a stimilus whether you are asleep or awake?

mescaline.
Mesc just alters your perceptions of reality however if you have ever tripped then you will note that there is alwasy a core thought in your mind that will ground you in the perception of reality that your mind is most comfortable with, that being the one you have experienced the most.

not if youre dreaming!
So if I get bit by a bug while I'm dreaming my neural pathways react in a different manner?

youve got to defragment your brain hard drive :) oh and you know at some point in history we havent been afforded the luxury to be able to lay at home in bed with the doors locked, deadto the world, lol.

The realisation you described is a good beginning to understading or ever realising the state of consciousness. It's an interesting experience to say the least. And the core thought may not be a thought at all.

I was struggelling with wha tto say in terms of "Core thought" and I do agree with you that it might not even be a thought as we currently define such a notion. However when I have tripped there was this thread of perception like a bouyee on a pitching see that seemed to be always present in my mind.

Then i realised that asking such questions is a slippery slope because each question asked has no answer, but another question to replace it. The answer you got to your question is not the answer but merely the point at which you stopped asking questions.

Thats becuase we always try to anchor everything from one point of relivance and when we try and anchor from a second point of relivance with a slight reference to the previous point things begin to get muddled. Maybe this is a growth point in our evolution, maybe not.

That's true, our minds need to stick to what it knows, to what is familiar. And i see that as a problem because we will always have degree of projection onto a new thought, this will contaminate clear thinking with past experiences. I tried to let go on though patterns with no "grounding point" and got my mind to "float" and it became apparent how overwhelming it all is there's a infinite ammount of tangents any thought could take, we need order to stay sane. It's like living all your life in a closed room and someone letting you see the open ocean for a minute, the vastness is almost incomprehansible. I really think this will be a point in our evolution. It might be the next step for humanity.

This was your beacon, your guardian as they say. It makes me wonder if it's presence is there for a reason. Perhaps we were meant to partake in such thigs and that opens up a whole lot of endless questions on why, for what etc... But i can tell you, there's a certain ammount of unshackling of the mind that takes place.
