What helps for liver functioning

I dont know if there is any evidence for milk thistle, so I'm wary of using that.

I know ALA & selenium have been used to treat hepatitis C, but don't know if they'd make a differece with increased ALT levels.

What works to help compensate for an overtaxed liver?

Thanks. Glucorell R is R-ALA, which I'm already taking. I've never heard of Tyler's liver detox or liv52 before now though.

Liv52 has a shitload of scientific studies to back it up, esp on the subject of taking it with hepatotoxic medications.

is milk thistle really no good at all?
No bro its good. Milk thistle is good!! I use it daily and anyone who does orals should too. Ask your doctor that will more than likely be the first thing they say to you! Also for your prostate Saw Palmetto.

i asked my doc & he lol'ed. said the only way to fix a damaged liver is to stop damaging it.

I agree -- Tyler's did the trick for me too when I had to take some risky meds for acne that could have messed with my liver.

Though I have to say, HT makes a valid point. :) Stop abusing the liver if ya' can... but if not, that's what Tyler's is made for.

The liver has an amazing ability to be put under a lot of stress and regenrate itself but i would never push it without taking something. My list in order would be Tylers, Liv 52, and then millk thistle.

I would think that most people take stuff to reduce or prevent liver damage, but the liver can heal and stuff that good for the liver should help in that process.
