What does a hernia feel like?

Okay, maybe I'm being paranoid, but I've got this dull pain in my groin, just above my left testicle, every time I lift weight from the ground. Once I clear my knees with the bar, it doesn't hurt, so I'm able to do curls and presses from a standing position without any problems. But then when I go to lower the weight, it hurts again as I approach the ground. It's been like this for months. I just thought it would go away, but instead it's getting a little worse. Nothing unbearable, just makes me concerned.

Do you know what a hernia is? It's a tear in your lower abdominal muscle. Through the hole your intestines leak through giving you a lump, or in extreme cases a fucking huge nutsack. It's really gross. One time I was working on a trauma patient in the ER and I cut off his pants. Lo and behold there it was. My first hernia. His nutsack was about the size of a melon.

Anyways, if you have a full hernia you would be able to feel your intestines coming out. It would feel like a bulge. My friend had one for about 1 1/2 years. He just kept pushing it back in.

It's also possible you have a partial hernia were your intestines aren't coming out. Go to your doc as soon as possible. You will likely have to stock lifint weight for a while but it is worth it. :)

The pain via those movements sounds very similar to what has happened to me the past few months...I DO have a hernia (and it has NOT been repaired yet).
But what my doctors figured out after a few exams was that it was NOT the hernia that was causing me so much pain...

It was the Epididymitits I had :eek2: (NOT something you want AT ALL :()

I don't know what a full blown hernia sounds like, but I've heard it's pretty intense bro. Go get that checked out ASAP!!!!

My bro had a full blown hernia and had surgery. He described it as insane pain when it went full blown . But it started out the way that you describe. I would get to the doc and get it fixed asap if that is what it is. I saw what he went through and bro you dont want any part of that. Recovery was a long time also. Good luck.

Yeah, definatly hit up a doc. A hernia is not something you wanna play with. It ranks right up there with kidney stones and paper cuts

Think of it this way: Would you rather lose 2 weeks in the gym recovering from what you have now, or 2 months because you put it off.
