On non work out days doing 2 sets of pushups, let's say 50 and 30 and also doing 200 ab crunches

Before going to bed?

I figured it's a good way to burn some extra energy and could serve as a short cardio work out.

200 ab crunches wont make ur abs ripped or anything...nor will it build them up....the pushups will do you good...and do variations of them, say put ur feet up on a chair...do diamond pushups or wider base pushups..those should help but makesure not to do them the day before or after chest workouts or you might weaken your lifts and slow recovery

I have a friend who in highschool did 200 pushups a night, he was a basketball player. Now his chest is enormous.

I dont expect the same thing to happen to my abs but I'm sure it would do wonders for the definition and just burn of those extra calories for the night.

it will help burn calories but you wont become ripped....you gotta run lots and do cardio to get ripped... pushups will do you good.... so will crunchers

If you're looking for definition, cardio and diet will work a hundred times better.

I'd use the days off for complete rest. You'll get more than enough ab and chest work done at the gym to make good progress. Give your body the couple of days off
